Technological progress enhances production and offer increasingly innovative electronic equipment, intensifying in the consumer market, the constant replacement of product data as “obsolete” by technological innovations. Through this constant turnover, this research aimed to identify the environmental vision of academics students of Directors of an Institution of Higher Education of Santa Maria, on the use of electronics in relation to the acquisition, maintenance and disposal conscious . Methodologically, the research is characterized as a case study applied exploratory mode, with the nature of qualitative approach. The study showed the main determinants for the purchase of electronic equipment factors, highlighting the brand and the price. Moreover, although most academic seek maintenance as an alternative way to increase the useful life of the equipment, there are limitations as to how to dispose of electronic waste, which leads to the conclusion that new practices and actions can be stimulated in the environmental area, as individual attitudes towards consumption may be added to the collective and contribute to preserving the environment. In this context, it elucidates that environmental education is fundamental to the development of a sustainable vision, providing new conceptions of the social and environmental behavior.
