Resumo: | In no-tillage system the application of animal wastes is made on the soil surface, without incorporation. As such, a common practice is the application of the wastes on oat residues which vary in their C/N ratio, depending on which stage the crop is managed. Few studies have been carried out to assess the effect of applying ammonia-rich pig slurry over the decomposition of crop residues differing in their C/N ratio. The evaluation of this aspect, varying the location of the carbon (oat residue) and nitrogen (pig slurry) sources in soil was the objective of this study, which was conducted during 123 days under laboratory conditions at 25 °C. We evaluated twelve treatments with four replications in a completely randomized design. One treatment (control) contained only the soil while the other eleven treatments contained the soil plus pig slurry and oats straw, either alone or together, varying the soil location (with or without incorporation) of both organic residues and the C/N ratio of the oats straw (31/1 and 61/1). The pig slurry and straw decomposition were measured by the C-CO2 release. The incorporation into the soil not favored the C straw mineralization, regardless the C/N ratio of straw. The cumulated C straw mineralization at the end of the experiment was not affected by the pig slurry addition, regardless the location of straw and slurry in soil and the C/N ratio of straw. The incorporation of the mixture of straw and slurry into the soil promoted a reduction of C straw mineralization, and the magnitude of this reduction was similar between the straw with C/N of 31/1 and 61/1. The application of pig slurry on the soil surface favored the C-CO2 emission in relation to the incorporation of slurry into the soil. |
