Summary: | The present study had as general objective to know the perception of nurses who work in shift work on work overload. This is a qualitative research, exploratory-descriptive type. The scenario was a university hospital located in a municipality in the interior of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The participants were the nurses working in the clinical and surgical hospitalization units of this institution. The technique of data collection was performed through non - participant systematic observation and semi - structured interview, and were analyzed through the thematic content analysis technique. Inclusion criteria were: to work in the units studied more than six months ago. The recommendations set forth in Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council were followed, respecting the regulatory norms of research involving human beings, with approval under the number CAAE 65329817.2.0000.5346. From the analysis of the data emerged the categories: Factors inherent to the nurses' work process, which dealt with the reduced number of professionals in the work environment, interruptions in the development of activities, influence of the work shifts and the demands of a hospital school; Factors that interfere in the workload of nurses, in which adverse situations were discussed in the work environment, activities besides the capacity for resolution, changes in the epidemiological profile of the population, and managerial activities and the extension of work at home; and Elements that collaborate for the development of the work, in which the use of technologies in the development of work, recognition and valorization of the profession were portrayed. It is concluded that the nurses who work in shifts perceive the work overload, which is related to the accumulation of functions, of different complexities, which may or may not be the nurse's competence, and which need to be performed in the shortest possible time, without compromising the quality of care. It is necessary to develop strategies regarding the preservation of the health of workers, providing that nursing is more valued, and supported by the health team, making possible the provision of integral quality assistance. |

Trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, do tipo exploratório-descritivo. O cenário foi um hospital universitário localizado em um município do interior do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Os participantes foram os enfermeiros atuantes nas unidades de internação clínica e cirúrgica dessa instituição. A técnica de coleta dos dados ocorreu por meio da observação sistemática não participante e entrevista semiestruturada, e foram analisados por meio da técnica de análise do conteúdo temática. Foram critérios de inclusão: atuar nas unidades estudadas há mais de seis meses. Seguiram-se as recomendações previstas na Resolução nº 466/2012 do Conselho Nacional de Saúde, respeitando as normas regulamentadoras de pesquisa envolvendo seres humanos, com aprovação sob o número CAAE 65329817.2.0000.5346. A partir da análise dos dados emergiram as categorias: Fatores inerentes ao processo de trabalho do enfermeiro, na qual foram abordados o quantitativo reduzido de profissionais no ambiente laboral, interrupções no desenvolvimento das atividades, a influência dos turnos de trabalho e as demandas de um hospital escola; Fatores que interferem na sobrecarga de trabalho do enfermeiro, na qual foram discutidas as situações adversas no ambiente de trabalho, atividades além da capacidade de resolução, mudanças no perfil epidemiológico da população, e atividades gerenciais e a extensão do trabalho no domicílio; e Elementos que colaboram para o desenvolvimento do trabalho, na qual foram retratados o uso das tecnologias no desenvolvimento do trabalho, o reconhecimento e valorização da profissão. Conclui-se que os enfermeiros que atuam em turnos percebem a sobrecarga de trabalho, sendo esta relacionada ao acúmulo de funções, de diferentes complexidades, que podem ser ou não da competência do enfermeiro, e que necessitam ser realizadas no menor tempo possível, sem comprometer a qualidade da assistência. Mostra-se necessário o desenvolvimento de estratégias no que tange à preservação da saúde dos trabalhadores, proporcionando que a enfermagem seja mais valorizada, e apoiada pela equipe de saúde, tornando possível a oferta de uma assistência integral de qualidade.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências da SaúdePrograma de Pós-Graduação em EnfermagemUFSMBrasilEnfermagemAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessEnfermagemSaúde do trabalhadorTrabalho em turnosCarga de trabalhoNursingOccupational healthShift workWorkloadCNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::ENFERMAGEMSobrecarga de trabalho de enfermeiros em unidades de internação hospitalarOverload of work of nurses in hospital insulation unitsinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesisSilva, Rosângela Marion dahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2110092444567232Beck, Carmem Lúcia Coloméhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2883979357361814Cardoso, Letícia Silveirahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2309155244128217Lima, Suzinara Beatriz Soares dehttp://lattes.cnpq.br/6711164523602200http://lattes.cnpq.br/9281380491101346Trindade, Liliane Ribeiro400400000000600943ebba1-1c67-4bf2-b245-4d0fe87ac6795d819907-3ff0-49b8-9622-3b4d08950c88f929d59c-f5c3-4b99-8a10-aaa682bd2156afe65307-176d-443f-873e-6259f14e98b721f0a112-ca64-4a13-88ce-e22c123e3162reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMORIGINALDIS_PPGENFERMAGEM_2018_TRINDADE_LILIANE.pdfDIS_PPGENFERMAGEM_2018_TRINDADE_LILIANE.pdfDissertação de Mestradoapplication/pdf1653365http://repositorio.ufsm.br/bitstream/1/14306/1/DIS_PPGENFERMAGEM_2018_TRINDADE_LILIANE.pdfc22457a30e90b5c487ba2e72b5e5bd28MD51CC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
