Resumo: | The present study aims to analyze technostress from the point of view of socio-material practices, intertwined by WhatsApp and public educational managers, and how they face it Technostress is traditionally seen as a negative process, both in professional and personal life, coming from information and communications technologies (ICTs). In this research, it is considered that technostress emerges from socio-material practices. In this way its analysis is carried out under this perspective, considering the constitutive interweaving between the social and the material. From this specific context, we set out to search for coping strategies (focused on emotion and on the problem) that these managers use to face the technostress experienced. For that, an exploratory research was developed with a qualitative approach. Research data were collected through in-depth interviews and field notes, due to the scope and specific context of the research, which will compose the analytical corpus of the study. As subjects of the research, there are the educational managers of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) with management position and course coordination function. With regard to data analysis, interpretive textual analysis and templates analysis was used as an analytical lens. As a result, it was identified that socio-material practices are the tangle of managers (with the most diverse profiles, characteristics and areas of training) to WhatsApp. WhatsApp is mostly formed by the personal telephone number of the managers, having as one of the main characteristics the silent mode. The tasks performed are requests and responses to demands, information sharing, as well as sending and receiving documents, participating in groups, making decisions, in addition to several other activities. The contexts are very diverse, taking place in the Institution itself and anywhere, regardless of whether it is at night, on weekends, on holidays or on vacation. Techno invasion and techno overload are major threats. Work-home conflicts, techno-insecurity and role ambiguity present themselves as original threats. Interrupts enabled, appear as minor threats and techno complexity causes no threats. These techno-stressors gave rise to emotional tensions: anguish, anxiety, pressure, exhaustion, fear, guilt, etc. physical tensions: tiredness, insomnia and body aches, in addition to behavioral tensions: less satisfaction with work, low productivity. Among the strategies focused on emotions are: distancing, moving away, reflecting, among others, and behavioral strategies. Those focused on the problem appeared in greater numbers, such as: silence, instrumental, social and family support, learning by doing, managing, organizing tasks/priorities, creating rules in groups, helping colleagues, secretaries, taking care with messages sent, requesting sending by email, among others. It is important to emphasize that the strategies help in an attempt to alleviate technostress, since many of the stressful situations cannot be avoided, due to the position and the practice being socio-material, but need to be supported by managers and made aware in the organizational environment. There is a need for the organization to pay considerable attention to technostress in raising the commitment to the quality of life of the servers. |

There is a need for the organization to pay considerable attention to technostress in raising the commitment to the quality of life of the servers.O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar o technostress sob o ponto de vista das práticas sociomateriais, entrelaçadas pelo WhatsApp e gestores educacionais públicos, e como estes o enfrentam. O technostress é tradicionalmente visto como um processo negativo, tanto na vida profissional quanto pessoal, oriundo do uso das tecnologias da informação e comunicação (TICs). Nesta pesquisa, considera-se que o technostress emerge de práticas sociomateriais. Dessa forma, a sua análise é feita sob esse olhar, considerando o entrelaçamento constitutivo entre o social e o material. A partir desse contexto específico, parte-se em busca das estratégias de enfrentamento (focadas na emoção e no problema) que esses gestores se valem para enfrentar o technostress vivenciado. Para tanto, desenvolveu-se uma pesquisa exploratória, de abordagem qualitativa. Os dados da pesquisa foram coletados por meio de entrevistas em profundidade e anotações de campo, devido ao escopo e contexto específico da pesquisa, os quais irão compor o corpus analítico do estudo. Como sujeitos da pesquisa, temse os gestores educacionais da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) com cargo de direção (CD) e função de coordenação de curso (FCC). No que tange a análise de dados, foi usada como lente analítica a análise textual interpretativa e a análise por templates. Como resultados, identificou-se que as práticas sociomateriais são o emaranhado de gestores (com os mais diversos perfis, características e áreas de formação) ao WhatsApp. Este, é formado na sua maioria pelo número de telefone pessoal dos gestores, tendo como uma das principais características o modo silencioso. As tarefas realizadas são solicitações e respostas a demandas, compartilhamento de informações, assim como envio e recebimento de documentos, participação em grupos, tomada de decisões, além de diversas outras atividades. Os contextos são bem diversificados, ocorrendo na própria Instituição e em qualquer lugar, independentemente, de ser à noite, final de semana, feriado ou férias. A tecnoinvasão e a tecnossobrecarga se apresentam como grandes ameaças. Conflitos trabalho-casa, tecnoinsegurança e ambiguidade de papéis se apresentam como ameaças originárias. Interrupções habilitadas, aparecem como pequenas ameaças e tecnocomplexidade não causa ameaças. Esses tecnoestressores fizeram emergir tensões emocionais: angústia, ansiedade, pressão, exaustão, medo, culpa, etc, tensões físicas: cansaço, insônia e dores no corpo, além de tensões comportamentais: menor satisfação com o trabalho, baixa produtividade. Entre as estratégias focadas nas emoções, estão: distanciar, afastar, refletir, entre outras, e estratégias comportamentais. Já as focadas no problema apareceram em maior quantidade, como: silenciar, apoio instrumental, social e familiar, aprender fazendo, gerenciar, organizar as tarefas/prioridades, criar regras em grupos, auxílio de colegas, secretários, cuidado com as mensagens enviadas, solicitação de envio por e-mail, entre outros. É importante salientar que as estratégias auxiliam na tentativa de aliviar o technostress, uma vez que muitas das situações estressantes não têm como serem evitadas, em função do cargo e da prática ser sociomaterial, mas precisam ser suportadas por gestores e conscientizadas no ambiente organizacional. Há a necessidade da organização dar atenção considerável ao technostress na elevação do compromisso com a qualidade de vida dos servidores.Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPESporUniversidade Federal de Santa MariaCentro de Ciências Sociais e HumanasPrograma de Pós-Graduação em AdministraçãoUFSMBrasilAdministraçãoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessTechnostressEstratégias de enfrentamentoPráticas sociomateriaisCoping strategiesSociomaterial practicesCNPQ::CIENCIAS SOCIAIS APLICADAS::ADMINISTRACAOTechnostress e suas estratégias de enfrentamento: um olhar através das práticas sociomateriaisTechnostress and its coping strategies: a look through sociomaterial practicesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesisBobsin, Deborahttp://lattes.cnpq.br/9741757650191659Corso, Kathiane BenedettiEstivalete, Vania de Fátima BarrosLehnhart, Eliete Dos ReisFleck, Carolina FreddoBehr, Arielhttp://lattes.cnpq.br/2100764168725818Beltrame, Gabriela6002000000066006006006006006006006005fd9695e-cd07-42c4-a77e-a3de3a43668530fe66ce-e776-4c72-9cec-1ea828c14c84e9c7b9aa-69ea-49ce-8257-4643348de5aceab6129b-e2c0-4edc-b5fc-7fdd6c607219d0334567-4116-4d92-a95b-c643d76a3b23c0ff5e57-211e-458a-95b0-086782e50799f38bb84a-a6ca-4f9e-a4a9-165b12b36e05reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações do UFSMinstname:Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM)instacron:UFSMCC-LICENSElicense_rdflicense_rdfapplication/rdf+xml;
