Resumo: This research studies the resignification of Christopher Columbus' historical figure in the novel The Memories of Christopher Columbus (1987), by Stephen Marlowe, in order to verify the approaches and distances of the discoverer, the hero consecrated by historiography and traditional historical novels. Thus, the objective was to understand the recreation of the character from the perspective of a post-modern American, comparing the navigator's vision in his letters, based on Western certainties reason and truth. The result of Marlowe's efabulation brings Columbus closer to the modern subject fragmented in the eagerness to signify himself and discover the world.

Universidade Federal do Tocantins2022-01-11info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://sistemas.uft.edu.br/periodicos/index.php/entreletras/article/view/1302210.20873/uft2179-3948.2021v12n3p250-263EntreLetras; v. 12 n. 3 (2021): A ARTE LITERÁRIA NA AMÉRICA LATINA COMO VIA DE DESCOLONIZAÇÃO; 250 - 2632179-3948reponame:EntreLetrasinstname:Universidade Federal do Tocantins (UFT)instacron:UFTporhttps://sistemas.uft.edu.br/periodicos/index.php/entreletras/article/view/13022/19785Copyright (c) 2022 EntreLetrasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessPaiola, LuanaOliveira, Valdeci Batista de Melo2022-02-12T12:33:48Zoai:ojs.revista.uft.edu.br:article/13022Revistahttps://sistemas.uft.edu.br/periodicos/index.php/entreletras/indexPUBhttps://sistemas.uft.edu.br/periodicos/index.php/entreletras/oai||luiza.to@uft.edu.br|| revista@uft.edu.br2179-39482178-9479opendoar:2022-02-12T12:33:48EntreLetras - Universidade Federal do Tocantins (UFT)false
