Resumo: This is a popular education project for young people and adults equivalent to the supplementary 3rd and 4th grade, carried out by the Municipal Teaching Commission of Piracicaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil, from March to November of 1990, which sought to develop awareness and critical attitude of the students, based on the Pedagogy of the Oppressed (1987), allowing the working class to learn to read in aim to write history.
