Resumo: In this article we will address the formation of the colonial construct in Chile between 1813 and 1911, the year the National Institute was created in Santiago and the inauguration date of the National Historical Museum in the same city, respectively. What was expressed by the intelligentsia residing in Santiago in the 19th century, imbricated in a post-independence situation charged with republican airs, together with the attachment to the colonial language manifested by the working classes, establish a coexistence of ways, models, readings and forms, that offer a double reality and that mix, merge and travel hand in hand during the proposed chronological framework. From the reflection on the texts produced in Chile, we intend to measure both the cons-truction of a generalized ideology of the "colonial" concept, as well as its mutation and transformation to accommodate both mentioned realities.
