Resumo: | The sunflower is the fifth oleaginous in grain production and fourth in production of oil in the world, behind only oil palm, soy and canola. This work aimed to study the behavior of sunflower varieties Ollysson and AG962 in the presence of heavy metals in soil. The survey was conducted in the greenhouse at the Federal University of Campina Grande, in the period from June 1 to August 14, 2011. The experimental design was completely randomized with the varieties for treatments and 18 replications. Was used soil mixed with composed of solid waste containing 371,6 mg kg-1 of heavy metals. The variables analyzed in this study were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and leaf area. The variety Ollysson had higher growth, number of leaves per plant and leaf area. However, had stem diameters statistically equal to AG962. |

Este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar o comportamento das variedades de girassol Ollysson e AG962 na presença de metais pesados no solo. A pesquisa foi realizada em estufa na Universidade Federal de Campina Grande, no periodo de 01 de junho a 14 de agosto de 2011. O delineamento experimental foi inteiramente casualizado com as variedades para tratamentos e 18 repetições. Foi utilizado solo misturado com composto de resíduo sólido contendo 371,6 mg kg-1 de metais pesados. As variáveis analisadas nesse trabalho foram altura da planta, diâmetro do caule, número de folhas e área foliar. A variedade Ollysson apresentou maior crescimento, número de folhas por planta e área foliar.
