Resumo: This study was done to evaluate the spatial variability of carbon stock in a red-yellow Latosol humic soil in two plantations of arabic coffee (Coffea arabica L) variety ‘catuaí’ or ‘catucaí’ located on hillslope. The carbon stock was determined by th use of soil density and total organic carbon and the data were analyzed by classical and geo-statistics. The carbon stock was lower under ‘catucaí’ plantation compared to the area under ‘catuaí’ plantation. In both areas highest stocks were found on sites of higher soil density.

In both areas highest stocks were found on sites of higher soil density.O objetivo desse estudo foi avaliar a variabilidade espacial do estoque de carbono em duas áreas sobre cultivo de variedades de café arábica. O experimento foi realizado em duas áreas situadas em uma encosta cultivada com Coffea arabica L., sendo a primeira cultivada com a variedade catuaí e a segunda com catucaí, em um Latossolo Vermelho-amarelo húmico. Os valores de estoque de carbono foram determinados com base nos valores de densidade do solo e carbono orgâncio total, sendo analisado por meio da estatística clássica e geoestatística.
