Resumo: Hybrid squash plants cv. Tetsukabuto were cultivated under greenhouse conditions (in Viçosa, MG) and field conditions (in Ponte Nova, MG) in order to develop mathematical models based on linear measurements which allow the estimation of leaf areas. Under greenhouse conditions, 205 leaves of 12 plants were evaluated, 36 days after sowing. In the field, the first evaluation was done at the 34^th day and the second one at the 76^th day after sowing, gathering 54 leaves of 5 plants and 157 leaves of 4 plants, respectively. Linear measurements were taken of the largest breath of the leaf blade and the length from the apex to the junction of the leaf blade with the petiole. The area for each leaf was measured using 3 L1- COR LI-3 100 area meter. Because of the adjustment coefficient (R^2) and case of measuring, two models were chosen, for the gremhouse condition (Ã = -83.63 + 1113785 - 51.112 * L + 9.8047 * *L^15) and for the field condition ( A = 3.85 - 1.272L + 0.7756 * *L^2).
