Entre a colher e a enxada: interfaces entre a alimentação e a cultura dos quilombolas de Piranga-MG

Resumo: Many are the paths that lead us to the studies on eating habits. As a cultural data, food should be seen as an important tool from which we can understand how we are socially located and which representations we construct from ourselves and from the others. From this perspective, this work aims at studying the cultural matrix of quilombolas communities remaining in the city of Piranga-MG, based on the analysis of choices involving their eating habits. We know that through the constitutional proposals of 1988 these groups are inserted on the national scene, as it is established their rights to title to the lands they inhabit, as long as they assume themselves as quilombolas, preserve traces of African ancestry, and also preserve a link with the land. In this process of recognition, it is present the picture of social mediator, fundamental element in the work of redemption and redefinition of the culture of these people. On this professional it lays the complex task of rediscovering the quilombolas´ culture and makes its significance further enhanced by the group. With the exploratory and the descriptive researches we could build some links, based on the representations that emerge in daily eating habits of Quilombolas of Piranga. The observation and participation in the eating routine of the studied communities allowed us to realize that, further on the aromas which exude from the pans, quilombolas nourishment presents itself as a breeding ground for cultural studies, as well as remains at the service of rural extension practice, in which it is growing demand for research in the cultural sphere.

Como um dado cultural, a alimentação se configura como um importante instrumento, a partir do qual podemos compreender como o homem se localiza socialmente, quais as representações que constrói de si e do seu entorno. A partir desta perspectiva, este trabalho objetiva estudar a matriz cultural das comunidades de remanescentes quilombolas do município de Piranga/ MG, baseando-se na análise das escolhas que envolvem sua prática alimentar. Sabemos que as proposições constitucionais de 1988 inserem esses sujeitos no cenário político nacional, na medida em que a eles é auferido o direito à titulação das terras que habitam desde que se reconheçam como quilombolas, preservem traços da ancestralidade africana e que mantenham, com a terra, um elo de subsistência. Neste processo de autorreconhecimento, se insere a figura do mediador social, fundamental elemento no trabalho de resgate e ressignificação da cultura desses povos. A este profissional recai a complexa tarefa de redescobrir a cultura quilombola e fazer com que seu significado seja novamente valorizado pelo grupo. Com uma pesquisa de base exploratória descritiva, diversos foram os elos que conseguimos construir, a partir das múltiplas representações que emergem no cotidiano da prática alimentar dos quilombolas de Piranga.
