Resumo: This work is the result of an institutional research that aims to understand the meanings and challenges of teaching in the education of babies and children up to 3 years old in the context of the day care center, having as a methodological bias the research-training. From the dialogue between 18 teachers from different institutions in Rio de Janeiro, the discussion about care as a public right emerges, in tension with the historically constructed understanding of daycare as a place of guardianship and care in a private plan. In the research, reflections on the boundaries between domestic care and collective care are highlighted in an attentive, relational and professional movement.

Del diálogo entre 18 docentes de diferentes instituciones de Río de Janeiro, surge la discusión sobre el cuidado como derecho público, en tensión con la comprensión históricamente construida de la guardería como lugar de tutela y cuidado en un plan privado. En la investigación se destacan reflexiones sobre los límites entre el cuidado doméstico y el cuidado colectivo en un movimiento atento, relacional y profesional.Este trabalho é fruto de uma pesquisa institucional que visa compreender os sentidos e desafios da docência na educação de bebês e crianças até 3 anos no contexto da creche, tendo como viés metodológico a pesquisa-formação. A partir do diálogo entre 18 professoras de diferentes instituições cariocas, emerge a discussão acerca do cuidado como direito público, na tensão com a compreensão historicamente construída da creche como lugar de tutela e do cuidado num plano privado.
