Notou-se que desde o século passado, as áreas destinadas as suas lavouras se expandiram significativamente, avançado para estados sem tradição na sua cultura, como por exemplo, o estado de Goiás. Desta forma, este trabalho teve como objetivo principal analisar o crescimento do setor sucroalcooleiro neste estado, nos últimos doze anos, de 2005 a 2017. Percebeu-se que o estado atraiu a cultura da cana para seu território devido a soma de três fatores: econômicos (terras de baixo custo e incentivos governamentais), estruturais (malha rodoviária e infraestrutura implantada) e geoambientais (solo fértil, disponibilidade hídrica, clima favorável e declividade adequada). Os métodos utilizados para alcançar os objetivos foram, no aspecto metodológico, a pesquisa exploratória, já quanto aos procedimentos abordados, a pesquisa bibliográfica e documental. Em relação aos instrumentos de coleta de dados foram utilizadas informações divulgadas pela Companhia Nacional de Abastecimento (CONAB) e pelo Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento (MAPA). Os resultados apontam que a área plantada, a produtividade, a produção de cana-de-açúcar, de açúcar, de etanol total, de etanol anidro e hidratado no estado de Goiás tenderam ao crescimento, ou seja, aumentaram continuamente ao longo dos últimos doze anos. As principais perspectivas para o setor sucroalcooleiro nacional indicam que para os próximos dez anos a demanda internacional e nacional por açúcar e etanol crescerá, e para atender essa necessidade de consumo a área plantada e a produção de cana-de-açúcar deverão aumentar. Neste sentindo, concluiu-se que o setor sucroalcooleiro do estado de Goiás, em pouco mais de doze anos, expandiu-se significativamente, e a tendência é que se desenvolva ainda mais nos próximos anos. It has been observed that, since the last century, the areas destined to their cultures have expanded significantly, they advance to states without tradition in their culture, like the state of Goiás. In this way, this work had as main objective to analyze the growth of the sector of sugar and alcohol in this state, in the last twelve years, from 2005 to 2017. It was perceived that the State attracted cane culture to its territory due to the sum of three factors: economic (low cost lands and governmental incentives), structural (road mesh and implanted infrastructure) and geoenvironmental (fertile soil, availability of water, favorable climate and appropriate slope). The methods used to achieve the objectives were, in the methodological aspect, the exploratory research, with regard to the covered procedures, bibliographical and documentary research. Regarding the data collection instruments, the information was disclosed by the National Supply Company (CONAB) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). The results indicate that the planted area, productivity, production of sugarcane, sugar, ethanol, anhydrous ethanol and hydrous ethanol in the state of Goiás tend to increase, that is, they have increased constantly in the last twelve years. The main prospects for the national sugar and ethanol industry indicate that, over the next ten years, international and national demand for sugar and ethanol will grow, and to meet this consumption need, planted area and sugarcane production should increase. In this sense, it was concluded that the sugar and alcohol sector in the state of Goiás, in a little more than twelve years, has expanded significantly, and the tendency is for it to develop further in the coming years.
