O objetivo principal foi analisar a percepção dos discentes de EJA de uma escola rural no Centro de Ensino Fundamental Engenho das Lages-Gama em comparação com a percepção dos discentes de uma escola urbana Centro de Ensino Fundamental nº 404- Samambaia sobre o Cerrado, para ver se há diferenças nesta percepção. Nossa hipótese foi que a proximidade ou a distância do Cerrado faz com que as pessoas tenham mais ou menos conhecimento sobre a sociobiodiversidade deste bioma e os problemas existentes na atualidade. Neste sentido, nos propusemos a analisar a relação dos discentes com o Cerrado no seu cotidiano; verificar se os discentes reconhecem a importância do Cerrado a partir do que aprendem na escola; analisar como os materiais didáticos utilizados na EJA representam o Cerrado e como isto afeta a percepção dos estudantes. Realizamos visitas frequentes as duas escolas e entrevistas semi-estruturadas com um total de 278 discentes, sendo 139 de cada uma. Verificamos que os discentes das duas escolas têm percepções e compreensões diferenciadas do que seja o Cerrado em relação a sua composição, seu valor e sua importância no cotidiano. No ambiente rural os discentes se percebem como parte do cerrado, são capazes de descrevê-lo com mais detalhes e o valorizam como espaço de vida, enquanto na área urbana há pouco conhecimento de sua composição, nenhum sentido de pertencimento e uma rejeição ao Cerrado como ambiente natural e espaço de vida. Isto nos leva a crer que o ambiente em que se encontram, seja rural ou urbano, interfere nesta percepção. Entretanto em nenhum dos dois ambientes os estudantes tem conhecimento sobre a existência dos povos indígenas do Cerrado. Em nenhum dos dois ambientes a ação docente parece interferir muito nas representações dos estudantes e os materiais didáticos utilizados oferecem uma visão superficial que parece funcionar como limitadora desta percepção. The main objective was to analyze the perception of students of EJA of a rural school in Elementary Education Center Engenho das Lages-Gama compared to the perception of students of an urban school Elementary Education Center Nº 404- Samambaia, about Cerrado, to see if exist differences in this perception. Our hypothesis was that the proximity or distance of the Cerrado makes people have more or less knowledge about the socio-biodiversity of this bioma and the existing problems today. In this sense, we set out to examine the relation of students with the Cerrado in their daily lives; verify that the students recognize the importance of Cerrado from what they learning in school; analyze how the didactic materials used in adult education represent the Cerrado and how this affects the perception of students. We made frequent visits to the both schools and semi-structured interviews with a total of 278 students, with 139 of each one. We found that the students of the two schools have different perceptions and understandings of what the Cerrado in relation to its composition, its value and its importance in daily life. In the rural ambient the students perceive themselves as part of the cerrado, are able to describe it in more detail and value it as living space, while in urban areas there is little knowledge of its composition, no sense of belonging and a rejection of the Cerrado as natural ambient and living space. This leads us to believe that the ambiental which they are include, rural or urban, interferes with this perception. However in either ambiental students are not aware of the existence of the indigenous people of the Cerrado. In neither schol the teaching action seems to interfere too much in the representations of the students and the didactic materials used offer a superficial view that seems to work as limiting this perception.
