“Anão de jardim”: the “total tale” of Lygia Fagundes Telles

Resumo: In 1995, Lygia Fagundes Telles published her last book of short stories, A noite escura e mais eu ”“ the volumes of short texts that were later published are of a hybrid nature (invention and memory), appearing as chronicles or compilations of scattered tales. The last story in this book, “Anão de jardim”, due to its grotesque and allegorical nature, can be considered a summary tale, a synthesis of lygiana storytelling.  This article, supported by Kayser's (2003) theorizing about “the grotesque”, Kappler's (1994) studies on "monsters" and Chevalier & Gheerbrant's (2005) symbolic interpretations, argues for “Anão de jardim” as a “total tale”. Kobold (the narrator of the text), for example, is a diabolical / split-off being in which concentrate lygian characters and their dramas. The garden ”“ the setting of the narrative ”“ is also considered an encapsulated representation of the fictional world of the author.

El último cuento de este libro, “Anão de jardín”, por su naturaleza grotesca y alegórica, puede ser considerado un cuento sumario, uma síntesis de la cuentística lygiana. En este artículo, valiéndose principalmente de la teorización de Kayser (2003) sobre “lo grotesco”, de los estudios de Kappler (1994) sobre “los monstruos” y, aún de las interpretaciones simbólicas de Chevalier & Gheerbrant (2005), se defiende “Anão de jardín” como un “cuento total”, siendo Kobold (el narrador del texto) un ser diabólico / escindido en el que se condensan los personajes lygianos y sus dramas.  Se considera, aún, el jardín ”“ escenario en que se acontece la narrativa ”“ una representación encapsulada del mundo ficcional de la autora.Em 1995, Lygia Fagundes Telles publicou o seu último livro de contos, A noite escura e mais eu ”“ os volumes de textos curtos publicados em seguida são de natureza híbrida (invenção e memória), crônicas ou compilação de contos dispersos. O último conto desse livro, “Anão de jardim”, por sua natureza grotesca e alegórica, pode ser considerado um conto súmula, uma síntese da contística lygiana. Neste artigo, valendo-se principalmente da teorização de Kayser (2003) sobre “o grotesco”, dos estudos de Kappler (1994) sobre “os monstros” e, ainda, das interpretações simbólicas de Chevalier e Gheerbrant (2005), defende-se “Anão de jardim” como um “conto total”, sendo Kobold (o narrador desse texto) um ser diabólico/cindido, no qual se condensam as personagens lygianas e seus dramas.
