The generational succession in oil palm integration: the case of the Arauaí community, Moju (PA)

The market conjuncture dictates the rules in the rural environment and transforms the reality of families, resulting in considerable social impacts on the productive units, which may reflect the decision of the youth regarding the migratory process and, consequently, compromise the succession. of rural families. Thus, the study analyzed the impact of oil palm industrial culture on the process of generational succession in family farming in the Arauaí community, in the municipality of Moju (PA). To understand this process of generational succession in the community, a field survey was conducted with 20 respondents working in oil palm cultivation, whose families have young people who will be able to carry out the succession process of rural activity. The results allow us to conclude that the largest economic gains from palm oil production show greater satisfaction among the interviewed youth regarding rural activity; therefore, despite the desire to leave the community to gain knowledge, there is an interest in the future in returning to rural property bringing better life prospects for family members and therefore carrying out the succession process.
