Resumo: PRONAF is the main public policy aimed at family farming in Brazil, and it is important to periodically evaluate it to verify its effectiveness. This study aimed to analyze the distribution of PRONAF resources in the municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul, considering socioeconomic indicators and characteristics of the rural environment. Were investigated 222 municipalities in the Rio Grande do Sul, randomly selected. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA test, and t-test for independent samples. The main results show that PRONAF contributes to the permanence of farmers in the countryside and stands out as an important source of resources for the daily activity, cultivation of temporary and permanent crops, and implementation of agro-industries, contributing to the economic development of the municipalities. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo analizar la distribución de los recursos del PRONAF en los municipios de Rio Grande do Sul, considerando indicadores socioeconómicos y características del medio rural. Se investigaron un total de 222 municipios de Rio Grande do Sul, seleccionados al azar. El análisis de los datos se realizó mediante estadística descriptiva, prueba ANOVA y prueba t para muestras independientes. Los principales resultados muestran que el PRONAF contribuye a la permanencia de los agricultores en el campo y se destaca como una importante fuente de recursos para la actividad lechera, cultivos temporales y permanentes e implementación de agroindustrias, contribuyendo al desarrollo económico de los municipios. O PRONAF é a principal política pública voltada à agricultura familiar no Brasil, sendo importante avaliá-la periodicamente, a fim de verificar sua eficácia. Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar a distribuição dos recursos do PRONAF nos municípios gaúchos, considerando indicadores socioeconômicos e características do meio rural. Foram investigados 222 municípios do Rio Grande do Sul, selecionados aleatoriamente. A análise dos dados se deu por meio de estatística descritiva, teste ANOVA e Teste t para amostras independentes. Os principais resultados apontam que o PRONAF contribui para a permanência dos agricultores no campo e destaca-se como uma fonte importante de recursos para a atividade leiteira, cultivo de lavouras temporárias e permanentes e implantação de agroindústrias, contribuindo no desenvolvimento econômico dos municípios.
