Resumo: Educommunication is a field of social intervention that operates at the interface between education and communication. It emerges as an area with potential strengths, as it is crossed by the ways of doing things and offering meanings from these two fields of knowledge for social action in the world. It has principles and areas of intervention which, due to the very dynamism of the field, periodically require revision. The aim of this article is to present a review of the assumptions that guide the Educommunication field at this time in history. The approach is bibliographical and documental. It starts with the theoretical contributions already established in the field, to which reflections are added. As a result, it is proposed to rework its objectives and actions, principles and areas of intervention of Educommunication. In order to contribute to the epistemological reflection of the field of Educommunication, the reworking resulted in eight objectives, five principles and six areas of intervention.

Surge como un área con fuerzas potencializadas, ya que está atravesada por los modos de hacer y ofrecer significados de estos dos campos del conocimiento para la acción social en el mundo. Posee principios y áreas de intervención que, por el propio dinamismo del campo, periódicamente requieren revisión. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar una revisión de los supuestos que orientan el hacer del campo de la Educomunicación en este momento histórico. Con un abordaje bibliográfico y documental, se parte de las aportaciones teóricas ya establecidas en el área, a las que se añaden reflexiones. Como resultado se propone la reelaboración de sus objetivos y acciones, principios y áreas de intervención de la Educomunicación. Con el fin de contribuir a la reflexión epistemológica del campo de la Educomunicación, la reelaboración dio como resultado ocho objetivos, cinco principios y seis áreas de intervención.A Educomunicação coloca-se como um campo de intervenção social que atua na interface entre a educação e a comunicação. Surge como uma área com forças potencializadas por ser atravessada pelos modos de fazer e de oferecer sentidos desses dois campos de saberes para a ação social no mundo. Possui princípios e áreas de intervenção que, pela própria dinamicidade do campo, periodicamente requerem revisões. O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar uma revisão dos pressupostos que norteiam o fazer do campo da Educomunicação neste momento histórico. Com uma abordagem bibliográfica e documental, parte-se das contribuições teóricas já estabelecidas na área, ao que se acoplam reflexões. Como resultado propõe-se a reelaboração de seus objetivos e ações, princípios e áreas de intervenção da Educomunicação.
