Resumo: What is vocation? Is there any sense in thinking about talent, vocation, gift? From Heidegger’s thought, vocation is investigated as an existential possibility, as a resonance of Dasein (German for “being there”). We also resume ancient Greek thought regarding virtue, relating it with vocation. We consider the vocation understanding as fundamental in the current working system, which values qualifications and skills so much. However, the issue of vocation seems to have no meaning in modern society, especially in developed countries, where there is a diversity of human activities unprecedented in human history, a wide range of educational possibilities and a very insidious salary prestige for some professions. Perhaps this another symptom of the “forgetting of being” and even of its abandonment since the beginning of Modernity. Without recognizing and valuing the Dasein in which we are, where one is, there is no necessary listening to the call, to the vocation to be what one is, not only as oneself, but also, as a result, myself. Desde el pensamiento de Heidegger, se investiga la vocación como una posibilidad existencial, como la resonancia del Dasein. Se retoma también el pensamiento griego antiguo con respecto a la virtud, relacionándola con la vocación. Consideramos la comprensión de la vocación como fundamental en el sistema de trabajo actual que valora las cualificaciones y habilidades. Todavía la cuestión de la vocación parece no tener más sentido en la sociedad moderna, sobre todo en los países desarrollados, que combinan una variedad de actividades humanas como nunca vista en la historia de la humanidad, una amplia gama de oportunidades de educación y de un prestigio salarial muy insidioso para algunas profesiones. Tal vez esto sea más un síntoma del “olvido del ser” y hasta su abandono en la Modernidad. Si no hay reconocimiento y valoración de la “Dasein”, en lo que somos, en lo que lo es, no hay la escucha necesaria a la llamada, a la vocación de ser lo que es, no solo como uno mismo, sino también como resultado, como yo mismo. Palabras clave: Vocación. Dasein. Heidegger. Virtud. Don.Como entender a vocação? Faz ainda algum sentido pensar em talento, vocação, dom? A partir do pensamento de Heidegger, investiga-se a vocação como possibilidade existencial, como ressonância do ser-aí. Retomamos também o pensamento grego antigo no que tange a virtude, relacionando-a com a vocação. Consideramos o entendimento da vocação como fundamental no atual sistema de trabalho que tanto valoriza qualificações e aptidões. Todavia, a questão da vocação parece não ter mais sentido na sociedade moderna, especialmente nos países desenvolvidos, onde se conjuga uma diversidade de atividades humanas como nunca vista na história da humanidade, uma ampla gama de possibilidades de formação educacional e um prestígio salarial muito insidioso para algumas profissões. Talvez esse seja mais um sintoma do “esquecimento do ser” e até de seu abandono a partir da Modernidade. Não havendo reconhecimento e valorização do “aí-ser”, em que somos, em que se é, não há a escuta necessária ao chamado, à vocação por ser o que se é, não só como si-mesmo, mas também, em decorrência, como mim-mesmo.
