É importante mostrar que as mulheres tiveram papel imprescindível no desenvolvimento da área de software, para, deste modo, estimular as mulheres para a informática. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo é fornecer modelos femininos na área de informática, apresentando mulheres pioneiras que tiveram importante participação no desenvolvimento da computação. Sendo a informática uma ciência, a relação entre mulher e ciência é brevemente analisada, fornecendo um embasamento teórico dos motivos que levam a acreditar que as mulheres começaram a fazer ciência somente no século XX.[Abstract It is important to show that women have had an essential role in the development of software, so as to stimulate women to computer science. Thus, the objective of this article is to show feminine examples in computer science, presenting pioneer women who have had an important participation in the development of computation. The relation between women and science is briefly analyzed, supplying a theoretical ground for the reasons that led us to believe that women started in the world of science only in the 20th century.Key Words: Women, Science, Computer History, Pioneers.
