Resumo: Much has been written about political-cultural identity projects, with interpretations made with the most diverse documentary sources and methodological assumptions, particularly in the field of intellectual history, history of ideas, political history, social and cultural history. In this work, the main interest is to problematize the place of knowledge about the city, especially knowledge about urbanism, in the debate about Panamericanism and Latin Americanism. It also aims to elaborate questions to reflect on how the Latin American city and the urban problems that existed between the 19th and 20th centuries presented in the professional debate of Architects, Urbanists and Planners would also be inserted in the identity discussions about Panamericanism and Latin Americanism, mainly from the ideas and propositions that occurred in institutions created in the panamericanist scope between the 1930s and 1950s.

En este trabajo, el interés principal es problematizar el lugar del conocimiento sobre la ciudad, especialmente el conocimiento urbano, en el debate sobre el panamericanismo y el latinoamericanismo. Presentar preguntas para pensar cómo la ciudad latinoamericana y los problemas urbanos que existieron entre los siglos XIX y XX presentes en el debate profesional de arquitectos, urbanistas y planificadores también se insertarían en las discusiones sobre la identidad panamericanista y el latinoamericanista, principalmente desde de las ideas y proposiciones que ocurrieron en instituciones creadas en el ámbito panamericanista entre los años treinta y cincuenta.Muito já se escreveu sobre os projetos político-culturais identitários, com interpretações realizadas com as mais diversas fontes documentais e pressupostos metodológicos particularmente no campo da história intelectual e dos intelectuais, das ideias, história política, história social e cultural. Neste trabalho o interesse maior é problematizar o lugar dos saberes sobre a cidade, especialmente o saber urbanístico, no debate sobre o panamericanismo e o latinoamericanismo.
