Majors and hegemony in the Brazilian phonographic market

Resumo: This article analyzes the functioning of transnational disc recorders that operate in the Brazilian phonographic market, from the establishment of the compact disc as a standard support for the reproduction and commercialization of recorded music. Starting from the hypothesis that in times of globalization of the economy and globalization of culture, this market behaves and modulates in a different way, investigating what are the structural characteristics of such transformations and how the different social agents that dispute this space act. Considering the configuration of these record companies as majors, it is also explored how they organize themselves in the face of the challenges imposed by the global economy, how they preserve, or not, the reproduction mechanisms of this field, in which they themselves are the founders of their principles of construction.

Partiendo de la hipótesis de que en tiempos de globalización de la economía y globalización de la cultura, este mercado se comporta y modula de manera diferente, investigando cuáles son las características estructurales de tales transformaciones y cómo actúan los diferentes agentes sociales que disputan este espacio. Considerando la configuración de estas discográficas como grandes, también se explora cómo se organizan ante los desafíos que impone la economía global, cómo preservan, o no, los mecanismos de reproducción de este campo, en el que ellos mismos son los protagonistas. fundadores de sus principios de construcción.Este artigo analisa o funcionamento das gravadoras de discos transnacionais que operam no mercado fonográfico brasileiro, a partir do estabelecimento do disco compacto como suporte padrão para a reprodução e comercialização de música gravada. Partindo da hipótese de que em tempos de globalização da economia e mundialização da cultura, este mercado se comporta e se modula de modo diverso, investiga-se quais são as características estruturais de tais transformações e como agem os diferentes agentes sociais que disputam este espaço.
