Preconceito, discriminação e resistência: a luta lgbtqia+ pelo direito à cidade

The city is constituted as a reflection and conservation of dominant values, while society is organized based on prevailing heteronormative conceptions, having heterosexuality as the legitimate and morally accepted sexual norm. The city sets itself up as a counterpoint to different groups from such segment, rejecting sexualities and gender identities that are considered deviant from the established sexual norm. Over the years, studies, research and movements for the right to the city as a collective approach have been consolidated, aiming at the good of all. Thus there is a contradiction between what must be done and the reality experienced by subjects who have their rights violated daily, such as the LGBTQIA+ segments. Starting from the heteronormative construction of urban spaces, a scenario of denial and exclusion of disparate minorities is created. What should be seen as a right for everyone. ends up instigating the vulnerability of a neglected population, public and common spaces end up as a tool to hide this community, mainly by the heterosexual sacralization of spaces, through an old-fashioned discourse about the urban environment. Thus, it is necessary to address the expansion of conservative and patriarchal cities that are built through invisibility and violence against this vulnerable community, which has the street as a synonym for fear and insecurity.
