Resumo: This work demonstrates the reproductive biology Maxillaria rigida in an Amazonian meadow. It is a species that offers nectar droplets and is visited by Polybia bistriata which makes use of this floral. The osmophores and the region of the flower that most reflects the ultraviolet coincide with the medial portion of the lip. In this species the lip is provided with a callosity where the histochemical tests showed positivity for alkaloids, starch, lipids, mucilage and protein. Antagonistic interactions were also observed, such as the consumption of flowers by leaf-cutting ants, which resulted in a zero-fruiting rate in the natural environment. Through the controlled pollinations the species proved to be autoincompatible.Keywords: Autoincompatibility; floral biology; floral resource; nectar.

É uma espécie que oferece gotículas de néctar e é visitada por Polybia bistriata da qual realiza o aproveitamento deste recurso floral. Os osmóforos e a região da flor que mais reflete o ultravioleta coincide com a porção mediana do labelo. O labelo da espécie possui uma calosidade e para os testes histoquímicos houve positividade para alcalóides, amido, lipídios, mucilagem e proteína. Interações antagonistas também foram observadas, tais como a herbivoria das flores por formigas cortadeiras, fato proporcionou uma taxa nula de frutificação em meio natural.
