TECHNOLOGY CHARACTERIZATION OF THE FISH FARM OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CAPITÃO POÇO, PARÁ, BRAZIL

Resumo: The present study describes the technological aspects of fish farming developed on the Capitão Poço in northeastern state of Pará. The data were collected through 17 semi-structured interviews in aquaculture properties in the region.The farmer was legally responsible for most property. The property's operating time ranged from 3 to 20 years and the time of experience in aquaculture activity from 10 months to 20 years (mean 5.4 ± 2.9 years). Aquaculture represented a secondary activity is for subsistence or to supplement the family income. The properties had a total area ranging from 0.5 to 750 hectares (average 124.9 ± 150.0 ha), with water area between 0.00165 and 2.16 ha (average 0.4944 ± 0.5694 ha). The semi-intensive production system was predominant (88.2%), however, the intensive system keeper tanks was also recorded (11.8%), and recorded both monocultures (70.6%) as policultives (29, 4%), with cultive of Oreochromis niloticus, Colossoma macropomum, Leporinus friderici and two species hybrid. The management with regard to the analysis of water quality of farming, food supply and evaluation of growth performance, although carried out were not satisfactory, requiring greater technical training to producers.Keywords Amazon; aquaculture; farmer fish; fish; cultivation system.

Os dados foram coletados a partir de 17 entrevistas semi-estruturadas realizadas nos empreendimentos aquícolas do município. A maioria dos empreendimentos visitados apresentou o produtor rural como responsável legal pela propriedade, cujo tempo de exploração da terra variou de 3 a 20 anos e o tempo de experiência na atividade aquícola de 10 meses a 20 anos (média 5,4 ± 2,9 anos). A aquicultura representou uma atividade secundária seja para a subsistência ou para a complementação da renda familiar. As propriedades apresentavam área total variando de 0,5 a 750 hectares (média 124,9 ± 150,0 ha), com área hídrica entre 0,00165 e 2,16 ha (média 0,4944 ± 0,5694 ha/empreendimento). O sistema de produção semi-intensivo foi predominante (88,2%), no entanto o sistema intensivo em tanques-redes também foi registrado (11,8%), sendo realizado tanto monocultivos (70,6%) quanto policultivos (29,4%), com destaque para o cultivo de tilápias (Oreochromis niloticus), tambaquis (Colossoma macropomum), tambacus (híbrido), piaus (Leporinus friderici) e tambatingas (híbrido).
