Resumo: Congenital syphilis is still an important public health problem in Brazil. Treponema pallidum infection can cause ulceration and lead to increased HIV infection and, in pregnant women, is associated with a higher probability of miscarriages, stillbirths, low birth weight and visceromegaly. The objective was to quantify the cases of congenital syphilis by region of Brazil, the rate of prenatal accomplishment and treatment of partners. Data collected on the platform of the Department of Informatics of the SUS (Health Unic System) (http://datasus.saude.gov.br/) from 2008 to 2018 were used. A total of 164,330 cases of congenital syphilis were registered in Brazil between prevalence in the Southeast region. Observed data showed an increase in the number of newborns affected by the disease until 2017, followed by a decrease in the number of registered cases in the year 2018. The percentage of pregnant women who performed prenatal care or not was counted and perceived a rise in pregnant women's participation in the consultations until 2017, followed by a decrease in both adherence to medical follow-up and non-cooperation in the year 2018. The number of partners who underwent treatment was assessed, a growing adherence from 2014 to 2018. The research demonstrates the importance of treating the partner to reduce the chances of reinfection of the pregnant woman, a prenatal care with quantitative and qualitative elevation of its coverage, improvement in the notification system and diagnosis of syphilis. Keywords: Congenital syphilis; epidemiology; partner treatment.

Palavras chave: Sífilis congênita, epidemiologia, tratamento do parceiro.Universidade Federal do AmapáMarreiros, Andressa PintoAndrade, Manoel Victor Casé CoelhoDias, Claudio Alberto Gellis de MattosAraújo, Maria Helena Mendonça deOliveira, Euzébio deDendasck, Carla VianaFecury, Amanda Alves2020-12-21info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionArtigo Avaliado pelos Paresapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/article/view/495510.18561/2179-5746/biotaamazonia.v10n3p22-24Biota Amazônia (Biote Amazonie, Biota Amazonia, Amazonian Biota); v. 10, n. 3 (2020); 22-242179-5746reponame:Biota Amazôniainstname:Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP)instacron:UNIFAPporhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/article/view/4955/v10n3p22-24.pdfDireitos autorais 2020 Biota Amazônia (Biote Amazonie, Biota Amazonia, Amazonian Biota)http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess2021-01-13T23:24:24Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/4955Revistahttp://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biotaONGhttps://periodicos.unifap.br/index.php/biota/oai||juliosa@unifap.br2179-57462179-5746opendoar:2021-01-13T23:24:24Biota Amazônia - Universidade Federal do Amapá (UNIFAP)false
