Resumo: | The insects of the Lepidoptera order are popularly known as butterflies and moths and consist the second largest order of insects in relation to richness. These insects are explored in environmental monitoring studies due their susceptibility to habitat fragmentation, as well on environmental education projects because they are beutiful and charismatic animals. The butterflies can be separated in two groups, nectarivores and frugivores. The last one is the most studied group of Lepidoptera because it is possible to use attractive traps to standardize sampling. However, few studies were performed with frugivorous butterflies in the state of Rondonia. The aim of this study was to elaborate a field guide of frugivorous butterflies of Jamari National Forest. Sampling were realized with Van Someren-Rydo attractive traps. Specimens collected were euthanized, mounted and identified by use key of identification. In total were collected 3432 specimens belonging to 101 species of 11 tribus. One specimen of each specie was selected to macrophotographies, following Lemke (2014) methodology. The best preserved specimes were deposited at entomological collection of the Federal University of Rondonia (UNIR). Field guides provide essential identification services to reserchers for instance taxonomist, as well to butterfly enthusiast. Keywords: Amazon region; field guide; Rondônia. |
