Resumo: The Federal Institutes of Science and Technology Education are responsible for offering technical vocational secondary education, in the form of integrated courses, for those who finish elementary school and for the public of youth and adult education. The cycle of compulsory and free basic education must be from four to seventeen years old and the student who is not at the correct age during this cycle, is included in a situation of age-grade distortion. The purpose of this article is to show the age-grade distortion rate in State and Federal high school entities in Amapá between 2016 and 2018. The survey was conducted in the INEP database (http.//inep.gov.br). What the data reveals about the phenomenon of age-grade distortion in high school, in the state of Amapá, mainly in the state public school system, is very worrying. It is necessary to create conditions so that students can do their studies at the correct age, as the gap generates a strong impact on school life causing problems such as demotivation, failure and even dropping out of school.

El ciclo de educación básica obligatoria y gratuita debe ser de cuatro a diecisiete años y el alumno que no esté en la edad correcta durante este ciclo, está incluido en una situación de distorsión por grado de edad. El propósito de este artículo es mostrar la tasa de distorsión por grado de edad en las entidades de secundaria estatales y federales en Amapá entre 2016 y 2018. La encuesta se realizó en la base de datos del INEP (http.//inep.gov.br). Lo que revelan los datos sobre el fenómeno de la distorsión por grado de edad en la escuela secundaria, en el estado de Amapá, principalmente en el sistema de escuelas públicas del estado, es muy preocupante. Es necesario crear condiciones para que los estudiantes puedan realizar sus estudios a la edad correcta, ya que la brecha genera un fuerte impacto en la vida escolar causando problemas como la desmotivación, el fracaso e incluso el abandono escolar.Os Institutos Federais de Educação Ciência e Tecnologia são responsáveis em oferecer a Educação Profissional Técnica de Nível Médio, na forma de cursos integrados, para os concluintes do ensino fundamental e para o público da Educação de Jovens e Adultos (EJA). O ciclo da Educação Básica obrigatória e gratuita deve ser dos quatro aos dezessete anos de idade e o estudante que não se encontra na idade correta durante esse ciclo, está incluído em uma situação de distorção idade-série. O objetivo deste artigo é mostrar a taxa de distorção idade-série em instituições de Ensino Médio Estaduais e Federais do Amapá entre 2016 e 2018. A pesquisa foi realizada no banco de dados do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (INEP). O que os dados revelam sobre o fenômeno distorção idade-série no ensino médio, no Estado do Amapá, principalmente, na rede pública estadual, é muito preocupante.
