Burnout Syndrome in healthcare professionals and the principles manifestations: a bibliography review

Resumo: Burnout Syndrome is a psychosocial disease that occurs due to a chronic response from generated stress work environment, affecting workers from different areas, being more susceptible in professions that has competitiveness and high workloads, including healthcare professionals. This is a bibliography review study with the objective to investigate work conditions and the possible correlation of these with the Burnout Syndrome in healthcare professionals. Articles from the PePSIC, PubMed, SciELO and Capes Journals databases, published between 2015 and 2021, that used the Maslach Burnout Inventory in the burnout among healthcare professionals. The results showed a prevalence of burnout among healthcare professionals. Regarding the main risk factors for burnout, there were work overload, high demand of daily patients, night shifts, high number of care per shift, leading these professionals to develop a negative self-image of their performance and dissatisfaction with work. It is suggested to consider the biopsychosocial and the working conditions factors in the prevetion of Burnout Syndrome among the heathcare professionals.

Este es un estudio de revisión bibliográfica exploratoria con el objetivo de investigar las condiciones de trabajo y su posible correlación con el SB en profesionales de la salud. Se analizaron artículos de las bases de datos PePSIC, PubMed, SciELO y CAPES Periodicals, publicados entre 2015 y 2021, que utilizaron el Maslach Burnout Inventory en la evaluación del burnout. Los resultados mostraron la prevalecía del burnout entre los profesionales de la salud. En cuanto a los principales factores de riesgo del síndrome, puede estar relacionado con la sobrecarga de trabajo, la alta demanda de pacientes diarios, turnos nocturnos, el elevado número de visitas, llevando a estos profesionales a desarrollar una auto imagen negativa de su desempeño e insatisfacción con el trabajo. Se sugiere considerar los factores biopsicosociales y las condiciones de trabajo en las acciones de prevención del Síndrome de Burnout en los profesionales de la salud.A Sindrome de Burnout (SB) é uma doença psicossocial que ocorre devido a uma resposta crônica ao estresse gerado no ambiente de trabalho, e que, acomete trabalhadores de diferentes áreas, sendo mais suscetíveis a SB as profissões com competitividade e cargas horárias elevadas, como os profissionais da saúde. Trata-se de um estudo de revisão bibliográfica, exploratória com o objetivo de averiguar as condições de trabalho e a possível correlação destas com a SB em profissionais da saúde. Foram analisados artigos das bases de dados PePSIC, PubMed, SciELO e Periódicos da CAPES, publicados entre 2015 e 2021, e que utilizaram o Maslach Burnout Inventory na avaliação de SB. Os resultados evidenciaram a prevalência da SB entre os profissionais da saúde. A respeito dos principais fatores de risco da síndrome, pode se relacionar a sobrecarga de trabalho, a alta demanda de pacientes diários, plantões noturnos, o elevado número de atendimentos, levando estes profissionais a desenvolverem uma autoimagem negativa de seu desempenho e insatisfação com o trabalho.
