Use of an application to access student assistance policies in a Federal Institute in southern Brazil

Resumo: This article aims to verify the effectiveness of the educational product, the “CAE on the network” application, together with some integrated high school classes (EMI) of a Federal Institute. The application aims to centralize some documents related to student assistance policies (PAE) developed at the institution to facilitate access to this information. This is a quantitative-qualitative study. For data collection, a questionnaire developed for this study was used as an instrument. Data analysis was developed through descriptive statistics, organized into positive and negative aspects. With the study, it was identified that for the students the application "CAE on the network" is organized, they would use it frequently and would indicate its use to colleagues and at reception meetings, which provided greater knowledge about the policies developed in the institution. And they claim that these policies are important for their permanence in the institution. Regarding the effectiveness of the application, students indicate that it facilitates access to student assistance documents, reducing research time. In view of the aspects studied, it is concluded that the application fulfilled its objective of facilitating access to PAE documents, making the research more practical and intuitive, thus being able to be used as an institutional tool in the search for the permanence of students, and in the recognition of these actions as strategies that aim at the democratization of education and the reduction of social inequalities.

La aplicación tiene como objetivo centralizar algunos documentos relacionados las políticas de atención al estudiante (PAE) desarrollados en la institución para facilitar el acceso a esta información. Se trata de un estudio cuantitativo-cualitativo, para la recolección de datos se utilizó como instrumento un cuestionario elaborado para este estudio. El análisis de los datos se desarrolló a través de estadística descriptiva, organizada en aspectos positivos y negativos. Con el estudio, se identificó que para los estudiantes se organiza la aplicación “CAE en la Red”, la utilizarían con frecuencia y señalarían su uso a los compañeros y en las reuniones de recepción,  que proporcionó mayor conocimiento sobre las políticas desarrolladas en la institución. Y aseguran que estas políticas son importantes para su permanencia en la institución. En cuanto la efectividad de la aplicación, los estudiantes indican que facilita el acceso a los documentos de asistencia al estudiante, reduciendo el tiempo de investigación. En vista de los aspectos estudiados, se concluye que la aplicación cumplió con su objetivo de facilitar el acceso a los documentos del PAE, haciendo más práctica e intuitiva la investigación, pudiendo así ser utilizada como una herramienta institucional en la búsqueda de la permanencia de los estudiantes, y en el reconocimiento de estas acciones como estrategias que apuntan a la democratización de la educación ya la reducción de las desigualdades sociales.Esse artigo tem como objetivo, verificar a efetividade do produto educacional, o aplicativo “CAE na rede”, junto algumas turmas do ensino médio integrado (EMI) de um Instituto Federal. O aplicativo tem como propósito centralizar alguns documentos referentes às políticas de assistência estudantil (PAE) desenvolvidas na instituição para facilitar o acesso a essas informações. Trata-se de um estudo quanti-qualitativo, para coleta de dados foi utilizado como instrumento um questionário desenvolvido para esse estudo. A análise dos dados foi desenvolvida por meio da estatística descritiva, organizada em aspectos positivos e negativos. Com o estudo, identificou-se que para os alunos o aplicativo “CAE na rede” está organizado, usariam com frequência e indicariam seu uso para colegas e nas reuniões de acolhimento e proporcionou maior conhecimento sobre as políticas desenvolvidas na instituição. E afirmam que essas políticas são importantes para sua permanência na instituição.   Sobre a efetividade do aplicativo, os estudantes indicam que facilita o acesso aos documentos da assistência estudantil, diminuindo o tempo de pesquisa.
