Resumo: | The general objective of the study is to analyze through the literature the main aspects of pediatric patient safety in the use of medicines in the ICU. The study was carried out through a literature review. As for the approach, it is classified as qualitative. Patient safety in the pediatric ICU related to medication administration also includes procedures for the prevention and control of infections, through hand washing before and after performing the procedures. In addition, it is noteworthy that the nursing team, when administering medications, must consider institutional safety protocols to prevent adverse events. It is noticed that patient safety is of paramount importance for patient care, together with the multiprofessional health team, where this professional promotes patient safety and the effectiveness of pharmacotherapy through the identification, resolution and prevention of problems that are related to the drugs administered. |

El estudio se llevó a cabo a través de una revisión de la literatura. En cuanto al enfoque, se clasifica como cualitativo. La seguridad del paciente en la UTI pediátrica relacionada con la administración de medicamentos también incluye procedimientos para la prevención y control de infecciones, a través del lavado de manos antes y después de realizar los procedimientos. Además, se destaca que el equipo de enfermería, al administrar medicamentos, debe considerar los protocolos de seguridad institucional para prevenir eventos adversos. Se advierte que la seguridad del paciente es de suma importancia para la atención al paciente, junto con el equipo multiprofesional de salud, donde este profesional promueve la seguridad del paciente y la eficacia de la farmacoterapia a través de la identificación, resolución y prevención de problemas que están relacionados con los medicamentos administrados.O estudo tem por objetivo geral, analisar por meio da literatura os principais aspectos segurança do paciente pediátrico no uso de medicamentos na UTI. O estudo foi realizado através de uma revisão bibliográfica. Quanto à abordagem, é classificada como qualitativa. A segurança do paciente na UTI pediátrica relacionada a administração de medicamentos, também contempla condutas de prevenção e controle de infecções, através da lavagem de mãos antes e depois da realização dos procedimentos. Além disso, destaca-se que a equipe de enfermagem ao administrar os medicamentos deve considerar os protocolos institucionais de segurança para prevenir eventos adversos.
