The objective was to list the incidence of brain death notifications in pre and during pandemic times in one of the areas of the State Transplant Program in the interior of the state of Rio Janeiro - RJ and to identify the reflexes of the pandemic in the donation of organs and tissues. This was a descriptive qualitative study of research and document analysis, carried out in the Potential Donor Notification Records from 2019 to 2021 of the Organ Procurement Organization in a city in the interior of the state of Rio de Janeiro in March 2022. Data analysis and interpretation took place through exploratory reading of studies, collected and stored in tables with descriptive statistical analysis. In the first pandemic year 2020, an increase in the number of brain death notifications was observed, with an equality in the number of notifications between 2019 (non-pandemic year) and 2021 (pandemic year), with family denial being the main cause of non- completion of the donation process resulting in a decrease in the number of donations. It was concluded that although the research points to a small decrease in the number of donations, there are still some issues to be considered, such as the need for more studies that train professionals involved in this process in different contents and the development of strategies that produce better levels of evidence. in relation to the increase in the number of donations.
