Feelings experienced by health professionals in the face of Covid-19

Resumo: The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken the public health system and the performance of several professionals in the fight against the spread of the virus. Objective: To analyze the feelings experienced by health professionals who work in public health services in the Brazilian Midwest in the face of Covid-19. Method: Cross-sectional, quantitative research, carried out between January/2021 and August/2021, through a structured online survey made available on social networks. Results: 79.9% of the population was female. As for the feelings experienced by professionals when reporting fear of contaminating the family, the following were evidenced: anguish 254 (95.5%), p < 0.001; sadness 249 (94.7%), p < 0.001; stress 259 (94.5%), p < 0.001 and anxiety 242 (94.9%), p < 0.001. With regard to psychological support, only 21.1% reported having been referred for follow-up by psychology professionals. Therefore, the importance of caring not only for the patient but also for the caregiver. Thus, it is necessary to provide assistance to health professionals through support networks in various regions.

Objetivo: Analizar los sentimientos vividos por los profesionales de la salud que actúan en los servicios públicos de salud del Medio Oeste brasileño frente a la Covid-19. Método: Investigación transversal, cuantitativa, realizada entre enero/2021 y agosto/2021, a través de una encuesta estructurada en línea y disponible en las redes sociales. Resultados: el 79,9% de la población era del sexo femenino. En cuanto a los sentimientos experimentados por los profesionales al relatar miedo de contaminar a la familia, se evidenciaron: angustia 254 (95,5%), p < 0,001; tristeza 249 (94,7%), p < 0,001; estrés 259 (94,5%), p < 0,001 y ansiedad 242 (94,9%), p < 0,001. En cuanto al apoyo psicológico, solo el 21,1% informó haber sido derivado para seguimiento por profesionales de la psicología. De ahí la importancia de cuidar no solo al paciente sino también al cuidador. Por lo tanto, es necesario brindar asistencia a los profesionales de la salud a través de redes de apoyo en varias regiones.A pandemia da Covid-19 abalou o sistema público de saúde e a atuação de diversos profissionais no combate à disseminação do vírus. Objetivo: Analisar os sentimentos vivenciados por profissionais de saúde que atuam em serviços públicos de saúde no Centro-Oeste brasileiro no enfrentamento da Covid-19. Método: Pesquisa transversal, quantitativa, realizada entre os meses janeiro/2021 e agosto/2021, por meio de survey online estruturado e disponibilizado nas redes sociais. Resultados: 79,9% da população foi do sexo feminino. Quanto aos sentimentos vivenciados pelos profissionais ao relatarem medo de contaminar familiar evidenciou-se: angústia 254 (95,5%), p < 0,001; tristeza 249 (94,7%), p < 0,001; estresse 259 (94,5%), p < 0,001 e ansiedade 242 (94,9%), p < 0,001. No que concerne ao apoio psicológico, apenas 21,1% relataram terem sido encaminhados para acompanhamento por profissionais de psicologia. Por isso, a importância de cuidar não só do paciente mas também de quem cuida.
