Resumo: Objective: To analyze the scientific literature regarding the role of the pharmacist in the COVID-19 pandemic, through an integrative literature review. Data source: The search for scientific articles was carried out in the following databases: Virtual Health Library (VHL), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Eletronic Library Online (SciELO) and PubMed in period from 2019 to 2020. The inclusion criteria established were publications in English with the descriptor “Coronavirus, COVID-19, Pharmacy, Community Pharmacy, Pharmacy Services, Pharmaceutical Care, Hospital Pharmacy” in the title, abstract or keywords in available articles online and in full. Letters to the editor and duplicate articles were excluded. Summary of the findings: 10,906 articles were identified, of which 28 met the selection criteria. The results were demonstrated with emphasis on the additional functions performed by pharmacists both in the community pharmacy and in the hospital pharmacy, determined by the pandemic situation. At the hospital level, support for clinical decision-making on pharmacotherapy, logistical management of medications, greater security in dispensing medication and pharmacovigilance were verified. In the community pharmacy environment, the emphasis was on pharmaceutical care directly to the user through guidance on hygiene measures seeking to minimize or prevent the spread of the virus and contamination of people. Maintaining the dispensing of medications for acute and chronic users, by guaranteeing the supply and availability of quality medications, was the main activity, as well as rapid tests for diagnoses of COVID-19.
