Kangaroo Method: Humanized and beneficial strategy for newborns

Resumo: | Introduction: The Kangaroo Method is a practice that assists in the prognosis of low birth weight newborns, providing better conditions for bonding with those responsible, stimulating breastfeeding and reducing stress and pain for the newborn. Objective: To describe the importance of the kangaroo method through the art of research and to reveal its benefits for the baby and the guardians. Methodology: This is a study with a qualitative approach, of the integrative review type, whose database was the Virtual Health Library Nursing using the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS): Nursing; Kangaroo Method; Maternal and Child. Complete articles were selected, in Portuguese, published between 2016 and 2021. At the end of the application of the criteria, 7 articles emerged for thorough reading and construction of the content. Results: From the reading of the articles, two categories were developed. Category I - Premature babies and the use of the Kangaroo Method Category II- Reality seen by society. Final Considerations: There is a limitation of research in the area chosen to approach the study, however, it was possible to realize the importance of the method in the lives of parents and newborns. |

Objetivo: Describir la importancia del método canguro a través del arte de la investigación y revelar sus beneficios para el bebé y los tutores. Metodología: Se trata de un estudio con abordaje cualitativo, del tipo revisión integradora, cuya base de datos fue la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud Enfermería utilizando los Descriptores en Ciencias de la Salud (DeCS): Enfermería; Método canguro; Materno Infantil. Se seleccionaron artículos completos, en portugués, publicados entre 2016 y 2021. Al final de la aplicación de los criterios, surgieron 7 artículos para la lectura y construcción en profundidad del contenido. Resultados: A partir de la lectura de los artículos se desarrollaron dos categorías. Categoría I - Bebés prematuros y el uso del Método Canguro Categoría II - Realidad vista por la sociedad. Consideraciones finales: Existe una limitación de investigación en el área elegida para abordar el estudio, sin embargo, fue posible darse cuenta de la importancia del método en la vida de los padres y recién nacidos.Introdução: O Método Canguru é uma prática que auxilia no prognóstico dos recém-nascidos de baixo peso, proporcionando melhores condições de vínculo com os responsáveis, estimula o aleitamento materno e reduz estresse e dor do RNs. Objetivo: Descrever a importância do método canguru através da arte da pesquisa e revelar os benefícios deste para o bebê e os responsáveis. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo com abordagem qualitativa, do tipo revisão integrativa, que teve como base de dados a Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde Enfermagem usando os Descritores em Ciências da Saúde (DeCS): Enfermagem; Método Canguru; Materno Infantil. Foram selecionados artigos completos, em língua portuguesa, publicados entre 2016 a 2021. Ao fim da aplicação dos critérios, emergiram 7 artigos para leitura minuciosa e construção do conteúdo. Resultados: A partir da leitura dos artigos foram desenvolvidas duas categorias. Categoria I - Prematuros e a utilização do Método Canguru Categoria II- Realidade vista pela sociedade.
