Resumo: The knowledge on allelopathy can assist in the cultivation system and the effects on positive and negative interactions among plants. Therefore, the knowledge on this topic is of great importance to assist on ecological and management strategies of the Rubber-tree (Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. ex A.Juss.) Müll.Arg.), species of economic prominence in the latex sector worldwide. The objective of this study was to test the allelopathic effect of the rubber tree (H. brasiliensis) on the germination of the bioindicator species Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) in order to detect possible allelopathic effects. For this study, an aqueous extract obtained from the mature leaves of H. brasiliensis was used in the concentration of 200g/L. A treatment with the aqueous extract and a control treatment without the extract with 10 repetitions of 10 seeds per treatment were used. A germination assay was employed to test the germination percentage (G%), root length and potential root respiration activity of seedlings using tetrazolium. The data obtained were submitted to the Mann-Whitney test (p<0,05). The aqueous extract of H. brasiliensis affected the number of germinated seeds and its cellular respiration. There was no significant difference in root length. The identification of allelopathic compounds in the bioassay provides preliminary data for understanding the behavior of H. brasiliensis, as well as in making strategic decisions about the interaction and dynamics of plant communities.

Ex A.Juss.) Research, Society and Development2021-10-25info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/2171210.33448/rsd-v10i14.21712Research, Society and Development; Vol. 10 No. 14; e70101421712Research, Society and Development; Vol. 10 Núm. 14; e70101421712Research, Society and Development; v. 10 n. 14; e701014217122525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/21712/20147Copyright (c) 2021 Larissa Ferreira Rocha; Bruno Santos Francisco; Felipe Bueno Dutra; Bruna Santos Teração; Lausanne Soraya de Almeida; Emerson Viveiros; Fatima Conceição Márquez Piña-Rodrigues; José Mauro Santana da Silvahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessRocha, Larissa Ferreira Francisco, Bruno Santos Dutra, Felipe Bueno Teração, Bruna Santos Almeida, Lausanne Soraya de Viveiros, Emerson Piña-Rodrigues, Fatima Conceição Márquez Silva, José Mauro Santana da 2021-12-04T11:48:39Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/21712Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:41:04.337134Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
