School permanence in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) in the countryside: the case of the 25 de Maio settlement, Madalena, Ceará

Resumo: This study focuses on Youth and Adult Education in the countryside and aims to analyze the aspects that have contributed to school permanence in the rural settlement 25 de Maio, observing the struggle for Rural Education in the context of land reform. It is a qualitative, descriptive and explanatory research, guided by the dialectical method. For the collection of materials in the field, semi-structured interviews, participant observation and document analysis were used. It was found that school stay in the field is related to the categories school management, teaching practice and pedagogical practice. The Municipal Department of Education is responsible for the organization of teaching, pedagogical support and provision of EJA within this settlement. Teachers carry out basic work consisting of home visits, but the school lacks pedagogical support. It was found that the majority of students are rural workers, aged between 32 and 50 years old, who remained in the EJA in order to complete their schooling process (elementary school II and high school) and obtain certification. Therefore, this study allows us to reflect on the challenges of EJA in settled areas paying attention to school permanence in the field and brings notes for future research.

Es una investigación cualitativa, descriptiva y explicativa, guiada por el método dialéctico. Para la recolección de materiales en campo se utilizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas, observación participante y análisis de documentos. Se encontró que la permanencia de la escuela en el campo está relacionada con las categorías gestión escolar, práctica docente y práctica pedagógica. La Secretaría Municipal de Educación es la responsable de la organización de la docencia, el apoyo pedagógico y la prestación de EJA en este asentamiento. Los docentes realizan tareas básicas que consisten en visitas domiciliarias, pero la escuela carece de apoyo pedagógico. Se encontró que la mayoría de los estudiantes son trabajadores rurales, con edades entre 32 y 50 años, quienes permanecieron en EJA para completar el proceso de escolarización (primaria II y secundaria) y obtener la certificación. Por tanto, este estudio nos permite reflexionar sobre los retos de EJA en áreas asentadas prestando atención a la permanencia escolar en el campo y aportando apuntes para futuras investigaciones.Este estudo volta-se a Educação de Jovens e Adultos do campo e tem como objetivo analisar os aspectos que tem contribuído para a permanência escolar no assentamento rural 25 de Maio, observando a luta por Educação do Campo no contexto da reforma agrária. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, do tipo descritiva e explicativa, orientada pelo método dialético. Para a coleta de materiais em campo utilizou-se à entrevista semiestruturada, observação participante e análise documental. Constatou-se que a permanência escolar no campo está relacionada às categorias gestão escolar, prática docente e prática pedagógica. A Secretaria Municipal de Educação é responsável pela organização do ensino, acompanhamento pedagógico e oferta da EJA no interior deste assentamento. Os professores realizam um trabalho de base que consiste em visitas domiciliares, mas falta apoio pedagógico da escola.  Constatou-se que a maioria dos educandos são trabalhadores rurais, com faixa etária de 32 a 50 anos de idade, os mesmos permaneceram na EJA com objetivo de concluírem seu processo de escolarização e obterem a certificação.
