Mechanical devices for thoracic compression and reducing the risk of transmissible diseases to pre-hospital care professionals

Resumo: | Objective: To examine the effectiveness of using mechanical chest compression devices in reducing the risk of communicable diseases to professionals in Pre-Hospital Care. Methodology: This is a systematic review. Articles published from 2010 to 2020 in the databases Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials, Embase, LILACS, PubMed / MEDLINE and SciELO were selected. The articles were submitted to data analysis and tabulation. Results and Discussion: 13 articles were selected, grouped into two categories: risks of communicable diseases for professionals in pre-hospital care and mechanical devices for chest compression. Studies have shown that mechanical chest compression devices (LUCAS or AutoPulse) should be used for chest compression of patients with suspected or confirmed communicable diseases, being the primary indication and should be used as soon as available. Conclusion: The use of mechanical chest compression devices reduces the risk of diseases communicable to professionals in pre-hospital care during CPR. However, there is still an urgent need for more research that seeks to contribute to reducing the infection rate of these professionals. |

Metodología: Se trata de una revisión sistemática, donde se seleccionaron artículos de 2010 a 2020, recogidos en las bases de datos: Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials, Embase, LILACS, PubMed / MEDLINE y SciELO. Los artículos fueron sometidos a análisis y tabulación de datos. Resultados y Discusión: Se seleccionaron 13 artículos, agrupados en dos categorías: riesgos de enfermedades transmisibles para los profesionales de la atención prehospitalaria y dispositivos mecánicos para la compresión torácica. Los estudios han demostrado que los dispositivos mecánicos de compresión torácica (LUCAS o AutoPulse) deben usarse para la compresión torácica de pacientes con enfermedades transmisibles sospechadas o confirmadas, siendo la indicación principal y deben usarse tan pronto como estén disponibles. Conclusión: El uso de dispositivos mecánicos de compresión torácica reduce el riesgo de enfermedades transmisibles a los profesionales en la atención prehospitalaria durante la RCP. Sin embargo, todavía existe una necesidad urgente de más investigación que busque contribuir a reducir la tasa de infección de estos profesionales.Objetivo: Examinar a eficácia do uso de dispositivos mecânicos de compressão torácica na redução do risco de doenças transmissíveis a profissionais do Atendimento Pré-Hospitalar. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática, em que foram selecionados artigos no período de 2010 a 2020, coletados nas bases de dados: Cochrane Library, ClinicalTrials, Embase, LILACS, PubMed/MEDLINE e SciELO. Os artigos foram submetidos a análise e tabulação dos dados. Resultados e Discussão: Foram selecionados 13 artigos, agrupados em duas categorias: riscos de doenças transmissíveis para os profissionais do atendimento pré-hospitalar e dispositivos mecânicos de compressão torácica. Os estudos demonstraram que os dispositivos mecânicos de compressão torácica (LUCAS ou AutoPulse) devem ser usados para compressão torácica de pacientes com suspeita ou confirmação de doenças transmissíveis, sendo a principal indicação e devendo ser usado assim que disponível. Conclusão: O uso de dispositivos mecânicos de compressão torácica reduz o risco de doenças transmissíveis a profissionais do atendimento pré-hospitalar durante a RCP.
