Resumo: Introduction: Gestational diabetes affects about a quarter of pregnant women around the world. The nurse has an important role in monitoring this pathology, as he/she monitors the pregnant woman's prenatal care, thus being able to identify the onset of gestational diabetes and forward her to high-risk prenatal care offering care support still bigger. Objective: To describe the role of nurses in assisting pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review carried out in the MEDLINE, LILACS, BDENF databases, with articles from the last five years, in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Results: In the articles selected for the final sample, we can highlight that the nursing staff works in the collection and identification of blood glucose changes, during prenatal care, they can identify and refer the pregnant woman to risk prenatal care. and medicate under medical prescription in order to reduce blood glucose levels, guide changes in habits and nutrition to prevent GDM, act during emergency childbirth providing care to the mother and newborn, guide healthier habits in the postpartum period in order to avoid a future WID. Final Considerations: The nurse works in the care of pregnant women with GDM, both in primary care where the problem is identified, and within high-complexity maternity hospitals, providing comprehensive care to the mother and newborn. Avoiding possible complications and promoting better health conditions.

El enfermero tiene un papel importante en el seguimiento de esta patología, ya que monitoriza el prenatal de la gestante, pudiendo así identificar la aparición de diabetes gestacional y remitirla a un prenatal de alto riesgo ofreciendo un apoyo asistencial aún mayor. Objetivo: Describir el papel de las enfermeras en la asistencia a las embarazadas con diabetes mellitus gestacional. Metodología: Se trata de una revisión integradora de la literatura realizada en las bases de datos MEDLINE, LILACS, BDENF, con artículos de los últimos cinco años, en portugués, inglés y español. Resultados: En los artículos seleccionados para la muestra final, podemos destacar que el equipo de enfermería trabaja en la recolección e identificación de cambios de glucosa en sangre, durante el cuidado prenatal, puede identificar y derivar a la gestante a atención prenatal de riesgo. prescripción médica para reducir los niveles de glucosa en sangre, orientar cambios de hábitos y nutrición para prevenir la DMG, actuar durante el parto de emergencia brindando cuidados a la madre y al recién nacido, orientar hábitos más saludables en el puerperio para evitar una futura WID. Consideraciones finales: La enfermera trabaja en la atención de la gestante con DMG, tanto en atención primaria donde se identifica el problema, como en maternidades de alta complejidad, brindando atención integral a la madre y al recién nacido. Evitando posibles complicaciones y promoviendo mejores condiciones de salud.Introdução: A diabetes gestacional acomete cerca de um quarto das gestantes ao redor do mundo. O enfermeiro tem um papel importante no acompanhamento desta patologia, já que o mesmo realiza o acompanhamento do pré-natal da gestante, podendo assim identificar o surgimento do diabetes gestacional e encaminha-lá para o pré-natal de alto risco oferecendo um suporte assistencial ainda maior. Objetivo: Descrever o papel do enfermeiro na assistencia a gestantes com diabetes mellitus gestacional. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura realizada nas bases de dados MEDLINE, LILACS, BDENF, com artigos dos últimos cinco anos, nos idiomas português, ingles e espanhol. Resultados: Nos artigos selecionados para amostra final podemos destacar que a equipe de enfermagem atua na coleta e identificação das alterações de glicose no sangue, durante o pré natal pode identificar e encaminhar a gestante para o pré-natal de risco, dentro das maternidades realizam exames e medicam sob prescrição medica a fim de reduzir os niveis de glicose no sangue, orientam mudança de habitos e alimentação para previnir a DMG, atuam durante o parto de emergencia prestando cuidados a mãe e ao recém-nascido, orientam no pós parto hábitos mais saudaveis a fim de evitar uma futura DMII. Considerações Finais: O enfermeiro atua no cuidado da gestante com DMG, tanto na atenção básica onde o problema é identificado, quanto dentro das maternidades de alta complexidade prestando cuidados integrais a mãe e ao recém-nascido.
