Resumo: The aim of the study was to characterize the profile of recipients of massive blood transfusion and verify adherence to the massive transfusion protocol by the healthcare team based on the regulations established by Resolution n 34 of 2014. This is a documental, retrospective and comparative study, of quantitative approach, in which transfusion requisitions filed by the hospital were analyzed. The data collected correspond to the period from December 2018 to August 2019, and these were analyzed using descriptive statistics. It was identified that most occurrences of massive transfusion were indicated for male patients, as a result of external causes. Moreover, we observed flaws in the filling of transfusion requisitions. The study showed the need for improvements in the hemotherapy area, in order to promote safe and quality care to patients, as well as the need for training professionals working in this area.

Se trata de un estudio documental, retrospectivo y comparativo, de abordaje cuantitativo, en el que se analizaron las solicitudes de transfusión solicitadas por el hospital. Los datos coletados corresponden al periodo de diciembre de 2018 a agosto de 2019, siendo analizados mediante estadística descriptiva. Se identificó que la mayoría de las ocurrencias de transfusión de macizo se indicaron para pacientes de sexo masculino, en decadencia de causas externas. Además, observamos fallos en la cumplimentación de las solicitudes de transfusión. El estudio destacó la necesidad de mejoras en el área de hemoterapia, con el fin de promover una atención segura y de calidad a los pacientes, así como la necesidad de formación de los profesionales que trabajan en esta área.O objetivo do estudo foi caracterizar o perfil dos receptores de transfusão maciça sanguínea e verificar a adesão ao protocolo de transfusão maciça pela equipe de saúde a partir das normativas estabelecidas pela Resolução n 34 de 2014. Trata-se de um estudo documental, retrospectivo e comparativo, de abordagem quantitativa, na qual foram analisadas requisições transfusionais arquivadas pelo hospital. Os dados coletados correspondem ao período de dezembro de 2018 a agosto de 2019, sendo estes analisados por meio de estatística descritiva. Identificou-se que a maioria das ocorrências de transfusão maciça foi indicada para pacientes do sexo masculino, em decorrência de causas externas. Além disso, observamos falhas no preenchimento das requisições transfusionais.
