Evaluation of the quality of life of nursing professionals in an Adult Intensive Care Unit

Resumo: The present study aimed to know the quality of life of nursing professionals in Adult Intensive Care Units. This is an exploratory and descriptive research of a quantitative nature, which was carried out with nursing professionals working in Intensive Care Units in the Midwest region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Data collection was performed through instrument that measures quality of life, called Whoqol-bref. Among the results of this study, it is noteworthy that of the four domains evaluated, all obtained regular results, together with facets number one and two, which were evaluated separately. The importance of investigating the quality of life of the health professional, especially the nursing team, is due to the fact that it can contribute to minimizing risks inherent to the context of intensive care, reducing physical and mental health problems that may come to harm the individual's lifestyle. It is concluded that nursing professionals, both nurses and nursing technicians who participated in the research, had a regular quality of life, a finding that corroborates with studies already found in the literature.

Se trata de una investigación exploratoria y descriptiva de carácter cuantitativo, que se llevó a cabo con profesionales de enfermería que laboran en Unidades de Cuidados Intensivos de la región Medio Oeste del estado de Rio Grande do Sul. La recolección de datos se realizó a través de instrumento que mide la calidad de vida, llamado Whoqol-bref. Entre los resultados de este estudio, se destaca que de los cuatro dominios evaluados, todos obtuvieron resultados regulares, junto con las facetas número uno y dos, que fueron evaluados por separado. La importancia de investigar la calidad de vida del profesional de la salud, especialmente del equipo de enfermería, se debe a que puede contribuir a minimizar los riesgos inherentes al contexto de cuidados intensivos, reduciendo los problemas de salud física y mental que pueden llegar a dañar el estilo de vida del individuo. Se concluye que los profesionales de enfermería, tanto enfermeros como técnicos de enfermería que participaron en la investigación, tuvieron una calidad de vida regular, hallazgo que corrobora con estudios ya encontrados en la literatura.O presente estudo objetivou conhecer a qualidade de vida dos profissionais de enfermagem de Unidades de Terapia Intensiva Adulto. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de cunho exploratório e descritiva de natureza quantitativa, que foi realizada com profissionais de enfermagem atuantes em Unidades de Terapia Intensiva da região Centro-oeste do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio do instrumento que mensura a qualidade de vida, denominado Whoqol-bref. Dentre os resultados deste estudo, destaca-se que dos quatro domínios avaliados, todos obtiveram resultados regulares, juntamente com as facetas de número um e dois, que foram avaliadas separadamente. A importância da investigação da qualidade de vida do profissional da saúde, em especial, da equipe de enfermagem, se deve ao fato de que a mesma pode contribuir para minimização de riscos inerentes ao contexto da terapia intensiva reduzindo problemas de saúde física e mental que possam vir a prejudicar o estilo de vida do indivíduo.
