Nickel-titanium mechanized systems used in root canal preparation: a literature review

Resumo: The present work aims to review the literature analyzing instruments in mechanized kinematics, emphasizing two reciprocating instrumentation systems (Reciproc Blue, WaveOne Gold), and to identify their main characteristics and advantages compared to manual and rotary instrumentation. A bibliographic survey was carried out in the online databases of PubMed, SciELO, Lilacs, Science Direct, scientific articles of systematic review/meta-analysis, clinical cases, experimental studies in vitro/in vivo, and prospective and retrospective researches were included. With delimitation of specific period, from 2008 to 2021, within the proposed theme, which addressed the mechanized NiTi instruments, with an emphasis on the Reciproc Blue and WaveOne Gold systems. Following the inclusion criteria, the available abstracts were read and 22 articles that were part of this study were identified. Thus, it is concluded that there is no perfect system, each one has its advantages and disadvantages when compared to its competitors. Therefore, it is essential to understand how the system works, and master its use to obtain better results in endodontic therapy.

Se realizó un relevamiento bibliográfico en las bases de datos en línea de PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs, Science Direct, se incluyeron artículos científicos de revisión sistemática / metaanálisis, casos clínicos, estudios experimentales in vitro / in vivo, investigación prospectiva y retrospectiva. Con delimitación temporal específica, entre 2008 y 2021, dentro de la temática propuesta, que abordó los instrumentos mecanizados NiTi, con énfasis en los sistemas Reciproc Blue y WaveOne Gold. Siguiendo los criterios de inclusión, se leyeron los resúmenes disponibles y se identificaron 22 artículos que formaban parte de este estudio. Así, se concluye que no existe un sistema perfecto, cada uno tiene sus ventajas y desventajas frente a sus competidores. Por tanto, es fundamental entender cómo funciona el sistema y dominar su uso para obtener mejores resultados en la terapia endodóntica.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo revisar a literatura analisando  instrumentos em cinemática mecanizada, enfatizando dois sistemas de instrumentação reciprocantes (Reciproc Blue, WaveOne Gold), e identificar suas principais características e vantagens comparados a instrumentação manual e rotatória. Foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico nas bases de dados online do PubMed, Scielo, Lilacs, Science Direct, foram incluídos artigos científicos de revisão sistemática/metanálise, casos clínicos, estudos experimentais in vitro/in vivo, e pesquisas prospectivas e retrospectivas. Com delimitação de período de tempo específico, entre 2008 a 2021,  dentro da temática proposta, que abordavam os instrumentos mecanizados de NiTi, com ênfase nos sistemas Reciproc Blue e WaveOne Gold. Seguindo os critérios de inclusão, foi realizado a leitura dos resumos disponíveis e foram identificados 22 artigos que fizeram parte do presente estudo. Assim, conclui-se que não existe um sistema perfeito, cada um possui suas vantagens e desvantagens quando comparados com os seus concorrentes.
