Resumo: The present work verified the perspectives pointed out by high school students about the concept of cell from the application of a Didactic Sequence following the Model of Educational Reconstruction (MRE). In the different ways of learning sciences, several concepts are not understood, mainly abstract contents as can be seen in the understanding of the cell. The research found that some basic concepts related to the study of the cell are obstacles in the students' learning, mainly due to their abstraction and the difficulty in contextualizing with the daily life. It was observed the lack of knowledge of the students about the main scientists in the development of the cell concept, the difficulty in differentiating eukaryotic cells from prokaryotic cells, in addition to the unpreparedness in the identification and classification of cell types. Better results were found when dealing with contemporary issues about cells, which can be justified by the influence of the media and the social environment when dealing with these issues on a daily basis.
