Fieldtrips: a possibility for mathematics education

Resumo: This paper presents the pedagogical strategy Field trips as a proposal for the teaching of Mathematics subject content in Elementary School. Initially, an experience of an ecological trail is reported in Parque Witeck, located in Novos Cabrais/RS, during the course “Field Trips in Environmental Education applied to the Exact Sciences”, from the Professional Master in Exact Sciences Teaching, from a State University of Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil. At the end of the trail the class was divided into small groups and as an activity they should develop teaching and learning strategies based on the theme: Field Trips, relating to subjects worked on in Basic Education. Following, three possible activities are proposed to be explored in the Mathematics Teaching of the 7th, 8th and 9th grades of Elementary School, namely: fractals, symmetry and trigonometry, respectively. It is hoped with the proposals made, that teachers will be encouraged, by reading this article, to include Field Trips in their planning, realizing that these non-formal spaces are conducive to teaching in all areas of knowledge.

Inicialmente, se informa una experiencia de un sendero ecológico en el Parque Witeck, en Novos Cabrais / RS, durante el curso "Excursiones en Educación Ambiental aplicadas a las Ciencias Exactas", del Máster Profesional en Enseñanza de Ciencias Exactas, de Universidad Estatal de Rio Grande do Sul / Brasil. Al final del recorrido, la clase se dividió en pequeños grupos y, como actividad, deberían desarrollar estrategias de enseñanza y aprendizaje basadas en el tema: Excursiones, relacionadas con los temas trabajados en Educación Básica. A continuación, se propone explorar tres posibles actividades en la Enseñanza de las Matemáticas de los grados 7º, 8º y 9º de la Escuela Primaria, a saber: fractales, simetría y trigonometría, respectivamente. Se espera que con las propuestas hechas, se aliente a los maestros, al leer este artículo, a incluir excursiones en su planificación, al darse cuenta de que estos espacios no formales conducen a la enseñanza en todas las áreas del conocimiento.O presente trabalho apresenta a estratégia pedagógica Saída de campo como proposta para o ensino de conteúdos da disciplina Matemática no Ensino Fundamental. Inicialmente, relata-se uma experiência de trilha ecológica realizada no Parque Witeck, localizado na cidade de Novos Cabrais/RS, durante a disciplina “Saídas a Campo em Educação Ambiental aplicada às Ciências Exatas”, do Mestrado Profissional em Ensino de Ciências Exatas, de uma Universidade do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul/Brasil. Ao final da trilha a turma foi dividida em pequenos grupos e como atividade deveriam elaborar estratégias de ensino e de aprendizagem com base na temática: Saídas de Campo, relacionando com assuntos trabalhados na Educação Básica. Na sequência, são propostas três atividades possíveis de serem exploradas no Ensino de Matemática do 7º, 8º e 9º anos do Ensino Fundamental, sendo estes: fractais, simetria e trigonometria, respectivamente.
