Safety in the use of medicinal and phytotherapy plants during pregnancy

Resumo: Introduction: Medicinal plants offer in their composition bioactive substances with prophylactic or therapeutic properties and phytotherapics are medicines obtained from this plant raw material. The period of physiological events that imply symptoms of changes in a physical, emotional and female aspect, accompanied by various symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting and heartburn. Therefore, as pregnant women, they seek alternatives to relieve plants from plants, including medicines and phytotherapics. Objective: To analyze the safety of the use of scientific plants and herbal medicines given pregnancy. Methodology: A literature review was carried out, in the SCIELO, LILACS and MEDLINE databases, on the topic. Result and discussion: Although medicinal herbs and herbal medicines are considered risks by the population, this is a dangerous practice when done without guidance, and can offer a high during an education. In this context, it is essential to pay extra attention to the guidelines and care with the use of these products, since most of them do not have scientific proof of safety or the need for their use in pregnancy. Conclusion: Data the need for more scientific studies to prove the safety of these products, maternal and fetal health.

El período de eventos fisiológicos que implican síntomas de cambios en el aspecto físico, emocional y femenino, acompañados de síntomas diversos, como náuseas, vómitos y acidez estomacal. Por eso, como mujeres embarazadas, buscan alternativas para aliviar las plantas de las plantas, entre ellas medicamentos y fitoterapéuticos. Objetivo: analizar la seguridad del uso de plantas científicas y fitoterápicos en el embarazo. Metodología: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica, en las bases de datos SCIELO, LILACS y MEDLINE, sobre el tema. Resultado y discusión: Aunque las hierbas medicinales y los medicamentos a base de hierbas son considerados riesgosos por la población, esta es una práctica peligrosa cuando se realiza sin orientación y puede ofrecer un alto durante una educación. En este contexto, es fundamental prestar especial atención a las pautas y cuidados con el uso de estos productos, ya que la mayoría de ellos no cuentan con evidencia científica de seguridad o la necesidad de su uso en el embarazo. Conclusión: Datos de la necesidad de más estudios científicos para probar la seguridad de estos productos, la salud materna y fetal.Introdução: Plantas medicinais apresentam em sua composição substâncias bioativas com propriedades profiláticas ou terapêuticas e os fitoterápicos são medicamentos obtidos a partir dessa matéria-prima vegetal. O período gestacional é um evento fisiológico que implica inúmeras transformações de aspecto físico, emocional e social da mulher, acompanhado de desconfortos e diversos sintomas como náuseas, vômitos e azia. Por isso, as gestantes buscam alternativas para aliviar esses desconfortos, entre elas o uso de plantas medicinais e fitoterápicos. Objetivo: analisar dados científicos acerca da segurança do uso de plantas medicinais e fitoterápicos durante gestação. Metodologia: Realizou-se uma pesquisa bibliográfica do tipo revisão de literatura, nas bases de dados SCIELO, LILACS e MEDLINE, sobre o tema. Resultado e discussão: Embora as ervas medicinais e os medicamentos fitoterápicos sejam considerados substâncias “inócuas” pela população, essa é uma prática perigosa quando feita sem orientação, podendo oferecer um alto risco durante a gestação. Neste contexto, é fundamental a atenção redobrada para as orientações e cuidados na utilização desses produtos, posto que a maioria não possui comprovação científica da segurança ou eficácia de seu uso na gravidez.
