Pleasure and suffering in nursing work: integration review

Resumo: | Work is fundamental to human beings, and it is through work that man inserts himself into society. The objective was to highlight the factors that generate pleasure and suffering in nursing work. This study is an integrative review carried out in the databases of the Latin American Health Sciences Literature, the International Literature on Health Sciences, and the Bibliographic Database in the Area of Nursing in Brazil, using as descriptors: pleasure, suffering, nursing and work. The sample consisted of 15 articles, without a temporal cut. Most of the investigations occurred in 2011, and they address the nursing area in the hospital context. Pleasure factors that stand out are those related to the recognition given by patients and their families, and the direct assistance to the patient, and those of suffering emerge mainly due to the death of a patient. It is concluded that such feelings are influenced by the relationships in the work environment, and that by evidencing the factors of pleasure and suffering in nursing work it is possible to stimulate people to build a more collaborative, constructive and fulfilling workplace for themselves. |

El objetivo fue resaltar los factores que generan placer y sufrimiento en el trabajo de enfermería. Se trata de una revisión integradora realizada en las bases de datos de Literatura Latinoamericana en Ciencias de la Salud, Literatura Internacional en Ciencias de la Salud y Datos Bibliográficos del Área de Enfermería en Brasil, utilizando como descriptores el placer, el sufrimiento, la enfermería y el trabajo. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 15 artículos, sin marco temporal. La mayoría de las investigaciones ocurrieron en 2011 y en el área de Enfermería en el contexto hospitalario. Los factores de placer se destacan por el reconocimiento de los pacientes y familiares y la atención directa al paciente, y los factores de sufrimiento emergen principalmente de la muerte de un paciente. Se concluye que tales sentimientos son influenciados por las relaciones en el trabajo y que resaltar los factores de placer y sufrimiento en el trabajo de enfermería puede impulsar a los trabajadores en la búsqueda de un trabajo más colaborativas, constructivo y gratificante para sí mismos.O trabalho é fundamental na vida do homem e o meio pelo qual este se insere na sociedade. Objetivou-se evidenciar os fatores que geram prazer e sofrimento no trabalho da enfermagem. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa realizada nas bases de dados da Literatura Latino-Americana em Ciências de Saúde, Literatura Internacional em Ciências da Saúde e Dados Bibliográficos na Área de Enfermagem do Brasil, utilizando-se como descritores prazer, sofrimento, enfermagem e trabalho. A amostra constituiu-se de 15 artigos, sem recorte temporal. A maioria das investigações ocorreu no ano de 2011 e na área de Enfermagem no contexto hospitalar. Os fatores de prazer se destacam pelo reconhecimento dos pacientes e familiares e a assistência direta ao paciente, e os de sofrimento emergem principalmente pela morte de um paciente.
