Resumo: | Through this work, we sought to present aspects related to John Dewey's life and theory, highlighting elements referring to scientific problems arising from common sense; the individual's experience and contributions to cognitive development; the importance of the development of democracy in the school context and the teaching by investigation defended by the school conceived by Dewey. Through this study, the importance that relationships and experiences in a cultural environment acquire for the improvement of an individual's knowledge is identified. Accordingly, teaching for Dewey suggests being mediated through problem solving, involving situations that are part of the students' reality, bringing school concepts closer to their daily lives and helping them to create the habit of seeking solutions to the issues that worry them. in and out of school. |

A través de este estudio se identifica la importancia que adquieren las relaciones y experiencias en un entorno cultural para la mejora del conocimiento de un individuo. En este sentido, la enseñanza para Dewey sugiere estar mediada por la resolución de problemas, involucrando situaciones que forman parte de la realidad de los alumnos, acercando los conceptos escolares a su cotidiano y ayudándolos a crear el hábito de buscar soluciones a los problemas que les preocupan. dentro y fuera de la escuela.Por meio deste trabalho buscou-se apresentar aspectos relacionados a vida e teoria de John Dewey, destacando elementos referentes aos problemas científicos oriundos do senso comum; a experiência do indivíduo suas contribuições para o desenvolvimento cognitivo; a importância do desenvolvimento da democracia no contexto escolar e o ensino por investigação defendido pela escola pensada por Dewey. Através deste estudo identifica-se a importância que as relações e vivências em um meio cultural adquirem para o aprimoramento do conhecimento de um indivíduo.
