The meanings attributed by women to the work of obstetric nurses in planned home birth

Resumo: Introduction: Considering the increasing number of pregnant women and their families in search to experience home childbirth, this article has an objective to comprehend the meanings assigned to women for a planned home childbirth with the supervision of nurse midwives. Methodology: This is an exploratory study, descriptive, and a qualitative approach, with an approach of 4 women that experienced planned a humanizing delivery with nurse midwives in the center-sul region of Mato Grosso, Brasil. The data collected were by semi-structure interviews, analyzing the thematic type content. Results: By analyzing the data, two categories were emerged: a) the acting of nurse midwives in planned home childbirth and b) the experience of home childbirth: the ambience and respect in the women’s individuality. Final considerations: The senses checked by women about home childbirth with the assistance of obstetrician nurses were given positive sentiments, denoting confidence and respect of autonomy and the individuality of the women and family.

Metodologia: Se trata de un estudio exploratorio, descriptivo, con abordaje cualitativo, con cuatro mujeres que experimentaron parto natural domiciliario planificado con un equipo de enfermeras obstétricas de la región centro-sur del estado de Mato Grosso, Brasil. La recolección de datos se realizó a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas, analizadas según análisis de contenido temático. Resultados: A través del análisis de los datos surgieron dos categorías: a) el papel de las enfermeras obstétricas en el parto domiciliario planificado y b) la vivencia del parto en el domicilio: ambiente y respeto por la individualidad de la mujer. Consideraciones finales: Los significados dados por las mujeres al parto domiciliario con la asistencia de enfermeras obstétricas fueron impregnados de sentimientos positivos, mostrando confianza y respeto por la autonomía e individualidad de la mujer y la familia.Introdução: Considerando que a busca pela experiência do parto fisiológico no ambiente domiciliar vem aumentando entre gestantes e suas famílias, o presente artigo tem como objetivo compreender os significados atribuídos por mulheres ao parto domiciliar planejado assistido por enfermeiras obstetras. Metodologia: Trata-se de estudo exploratório, descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, com quatro mulheres que vivenciaram o parto natural domiciliar planejado com uma equipe de enfermeiras obstetras da região centro-sul do estado de Mato Grosso, Brasil. A coleta de dados deu-se por intermédio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, analisadas conforme a análise de conteúdo do tipo temática. Resultados: Através da análise dos dados, emergiram duas categorias: a) a atuação das enfermeiras obstetras no parto domiciliar planejado e b) a vivência do parto em casa: ambiência e o respeito à individualidade da mulher.
