Symptoms associated with common mental disorders in the university context

Resumo: Objective: was to identify symptoms associated with minor psychotic disorders in university students from a public Higher Education Institution (HEI) in the inland of Ceará. Methodology: It is a descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative approach, developed from April to May 2019 with 75 undergraduate students using the adaptation of the questionnaire for the identification of common mental disorders (CMD). Results: The prevalence of CMD in the population was (49%), between 18 and 23 years old (84%), with somatic symptoms in (32%) of the population and decrease of energy (29%) besides depression and/or anxious mood with prevalence, in the first semesters of graduation (39%). Conclusion: CMDs are an important problem for young people in higher education. The need for interventions in the academic community by management, employees, professionals and students with a focus on empowerment and treatment of the underlying causes of disorders is highlighted.

Metodología: Es un enfoque descriptivo, transversal y cuantitativo, llevado a cabo de abril a mayo de 2019 con 75 estudiantes universitarios que utilizan la adaptación del cuestionario para la identificación de trastornos mentales comunes (CMD). Resultados: La prevalencia de CMD en la población fue (49%), entre 18 y 23 años (84%), con síntomas somáticos en (32%) de la población y disminución de la energía (29%) además de depresión y/o estado de ánimo ansioso con prevalencia, en los primeros semestres de graduación (39%). Conclusión: Las CMD son problemas importantes para los jóvenes que están en la educación superior. Se destaca la necesidad de intervenciones en la comunidad académica por parte de la gerencia, empleados, profesionales y estudiantes con un enfoque en el empoderamiento y el tratamiento de las causas subyacentes de los trastornos.Objetivo: identificar sintomas associados a transtornos menores psicóticos em estudantes universitários de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior (IES) pública do interior cearense. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, transversal e abordagem quantitativa, desenvolvido de abril a maio de 2019 com 75 estudantes de graduação utilizando a adaptação do questionário de identificação de transtornos mentais comuns (TMC). Resultados: A prevalência de TMC na população foi de (49%), entre 18 a 23 anos (84%), com sintomas somáticos em (32%) da população e decréscimo de energia (29%) além de depressão e/ou humor ansioso com prevalência nos primeiros semestres da graduação (39%). Conclusão: Os TMC são problemas importantes para indivíduos jovens e que estão no ensino superior.
