Teleservice to the population of Rio Grande do Norte during the COVID-19 pandemic

Resumo: Due to the magnitude of the new coronavirus pandemic, the routine of the general population and health services were modified in recent months. Much of the service to the population has started to be done mainly at a distance, with the help of technology tools, for instance, phones and computers, avoiding possible exposures to the virus. The aim of this study was to characterize the activities carried out in a university extension project developed by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. This is a descriptive, observational, qualitative and quantitative study. The teleservice operated through a call-center, from the website Orienta Coronavirus RN and WhatsApp. The work was carried out by students, teachers and health professionals from some institutions, all qualified to offer reliable information to society. In total, 2,041 attendances were made to the population of the state of Rio Grande do Norte, which 1,075 occurred through the call center, 710 through whatsapp and 256 through the Orienta Coronavirus RN website. Therefore, the project collaborated in reducing the population uncertainties about COVID-19, decreasing the search for information in the health system, as well as contributing to the academic training of students from the interprofessional perspective.

Gran parte del servicio a la población comenzó a hacerse de forma remota, con la ayuda de herramientas tecnológicas como teléfonos y computadoras. El propósito de este estudio fue caracterizar las actividades realizadas en un proyecto de extensión universitaria desarrollado por la Universidad Federal de Rio Grande do Norte. Este es un estudio descriptivo, observacional, cualitativo y cuantitativo. El tele-servicio funcionaba a través de un centro de llamadas, el sitio web de Orienta Coronavirus RN y WhatsApp. El trabajo fue realizado por estudiantes, docentes y profesionales de la salud de diversas instituciones, todos calificados para ofrecer información confiable a la sociedad. En total, se realizaron 2.041 asistencias a la población del estado de Rio Grande do Norte, de las cuales 1.075 se realizaron a través del centro de llamadas, 710 a través de WhatsApp y 256 a través del sitio web Orienta Coronavirus RN. De esta manera, el proyecto colaboró para reducir las incertidumbres de la población sobre COVID-19, reduciendo la búsqueda de información en el sistema de salud, y contribuyendo a la formación académica de los estudiantes desde la perspectiva de la interprofesionalidad.Diante da magnitude da pandemia do novo coronavírus, a rotina da população em geral e dos serviços de saúde se modificou nos últimos meses. Grande parte do atendimento à população passou a ser feito a distância, com o auxílio de ferramentas de tecnologia como telefones e computadores. O objetivo deste estudo foi caracterizar as atividades realizadas em um projeto de extensão universitária desenvolvido pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, do tipo observacional, de natureza qualitativa e quantitativa. O teleatendimento funcionou através de uma central de call-center, do site Orienta Coronavírus RN e do WhatsApp.  O trabalho foi realizado por alunos, professores e profissionais da saúde de várias instituições, todos qualificados para oferecer informações confiáveis à sociedade. No total, 2.041 atendimentos à população do estado do Rio Grande do Norte foram realizados, dos quais 1.075 ocorreram por meio do call-center, 710 pelo whatsapp e 256 pelo site Orienta Coronavírus RN.
